Why Does Double Displacement Occur?
ABSTRACT: the purpose of the experiment was to find out how double displacement happened. When the chemicals and metals were mixed the product was white and the test tube turned very hot.
INTRODUCTION: the purpose of this experiment was to identify double displacement and why is happened. Based on background information the chemicals when combined will fizz and turn very hot. Also, the chemicals used in this experiment are potentially harmful, so make sure to use goggles and tonsils to hold the test tube. If no eyewear is worn you could risk losing your eyesight.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Eyeware
Test Tubes
Tonsils
Silver nitrate
Sodium chloride
Barium chloride
Sodium sulfate
Squeezy thing
EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE:
1.)Put on your goggles. 2.)grab

Procedure: In this lab we mixed many different substances to see if they formed a double replacement reaction. We also looked for precipitants that were formed from the mixing of the different substances. We used barium nitrate, potassium hydroxide, sodium sulfate, magnesium nitrate, aluminum sulfate, and iron (III) chloride in set one. In set two we used potassium chloride, sodium hydroxide, magnesium nitrate, barium chloride, sodium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate. For each set, we mixed two drops of one compound in five wells of a spot plate. We then added two drops of all the other substances to the compound. We repeated this procedure for set two. If a precipitant formed from any solution, we recorded the color on our data table. If no precipitant formed, we recorded NR. After mixing and recording all the compounds we rinsed to spot plate thoroughly with water.…

In chemistry it is important to understand the difference between physical and chemical changes. The objective of this experiment was to perform tests using heat or chemical mediators and observe the results for any physical or chemical changes. Various materials were heated or mixed, monitored and results recorded. Numerous chemical and physical changes were noted during the procedure. It was possible to distinguish between physical and chemical changes using scientific observations.…

This aim of this experiment was to determine whether or not a chemical reaction occurred after the mixing of various chemicals. The evolution of a gas, the formation of precipitation, and the change of temperature or color are all indicative of a chemical reaction. It was assumed that a reaction did not take place if the mixture of chemicals exhibited none of these characteristics. Several precipitation, complex-ion formation, redox, and acid-base reactions were performed.…

From this lab we can learn to observe physical properties of varying substances as well as to use chemical reactions to observe chemical observe the chemical properties of varying substances. In experiment #1, we were able to detect physical properties of the aluminum and copper sulfate simply by looking at the substances. We then combined the two substances to see if they would create a chemical reaction and test the chemical properties. After being combined, bubbles and gas were created and the color of the substance changed, validating that the combination of these substances created a chemical change. This also explains that both substances have chemical properties that caused them to react to one another.…
