Why Does Prejudice Occur

Studying the topic of prejudice is important; but most of all, knowing the historical reasons for this human behavior. Prejudice is influenced by the social environment in which we live, but knowing the background that causes this unnecessary conflict is further important. Why exactly does prejudice occur?
