Why Every Kid Needs a Dog
Why I Think Dogs are Necessary in a Child’s Life
Someone once said, “Every child should have two things: a dog and parents willing to let them have one.” Dogs make your life full and complete since they are such a joy to have around. They are always by your side no matter what happens, and they are the only things on earth that will love you more than you love yourself. Dogs are necessary in people’s lives; dogs turn frowns upside down and keep you feeling good. I really want a dog because it will teach me responsibilities, keep me mentally happy and fit, and they will be good friends and they are not as bad as you think. Dogs teach responsibilities that kids need to learn at a young age. The responsibilities will help kids become better people since they will teach them how to care about others. If I get a dog, I will care for them and treat them like the best dog in the world. Some of the responsibilities being that I will walk them every day, feed them and give them water, would make time to play with them and give them attention, give them baths, and pick up their droppings. You might be thinking that these responsibilities are too much for me to handle, but I can manage to accomplish all of these tasks. If I didn’t think I was up to these responsibilities, I would not be begging about getting a dog all the time. I would probably get a pet that doesn’t need much work and maintenance that a dog needs. I would just get a pet fish, but I think that I am mature enough to handle a dog and the responsibilities that come with them. The responsibilities will help me later in life, for when I have kids. You can’t just take a big leap and have kids, you need to take it step by step. Getting a pet that comes with many responsibilities will be one of the steps I need to take. If I take a big leap forward, I will be overwhelmed by how much work I need. The little things that I achieve over time will help me reach the bigger ones in life. Dogs will teach me responsibilities that I can’t teach myself without them. The responsibilities will help me learn how to not be selfish and care about people. Dogs will also keep me mentally happy and fit. Lots of kids these days go on their computer, play videogames, or watch TV, which leads to childhood obesity. If I get a dog, I could go outside, play fetch with them, walk them, or even run around with them. You always nag about me going on the computer too much, but if I get a dog, I would spend my time outside with them. Walking or running with them everyday for 20 minutes will keep me fit, and it will also lower my mile time. Not only will a dog keep me fit, but it will also keep me happy. Studies have shown that general people who have pets are both mentally and psychologically in better health than non-pet owners. Pets become an essential motivator to get up and move around. Most pet owners are not selfish people and the majority will put their pet’s needs before theirs. Another study has shown that simply petting or hugging your pet will help you relax and lower your blood pressure. Animals make you laugh, and as people say, laughter is the best medicine. You might be thinking that other animals such as fish are great pets as well, but there are many downsides to those types of pets. First, you can’t exactly pet or hug a fish to lower your blood pressure, or else you would kill it. So a fish won’t do exactly what a dog would do. Another reason is that fish don’t teach kids many responsibilities. All you do is feed them, and occasionally clean their tank and put in new water. What’s the fun in that while you could be running around and playing fetch outside? Fish won’t motivate you to go outside and play with them, and you can’t go around the streets walking your fish. That would kill them. Fish won’t keep you mentally or physically happy, but many researches and studies have shown that dogs do. Another reason why I think I need a dog, is that dogs will be good friend to anyone and they are not as bad as you think. Whenever I want to get something off of my chest, I could always talk to them, and they will listen to everything I need to say. You are probably thinking that I should just tell it to a close friend or family member, but dogs won’t disrupt you, they won’t gossip, make rumors, or tell anyone about it. They will listen and even though I won’t get feedback, I could tell them anything and everything without worrying that someone will tell another person. I could also tell them anytime of the day, and they will always be there. Unlike a person, they don’t have jobs, homework, or tasks to accomplish first, before listening. You are also thinking that a dog will cost a lot, and they will do a lot of damage to the house. For example, you are probably worried that the dog will pee or poop throughout our home, but that is easily avoided. You just need to teach the dog discipline from the beginning, like you did with me. I don’t go around the house doing my business since you taught me discipline from the beginning. You are also concerned about the furniture or shoes getting ruined, but not all dogs does it and there are many ways to avoid it. For example, before we leave the house, we could play with them a lot and make them exhausted, so they are too tired to get the furniture ruined. You are also concerned about that your allergies will become worse if we get a dog. This can be easily avoided; all we need to do is get a hypoallergenic dog like a golden doodle. You are also worrying that dogs will cost a lot of money, but instead of getting a dog trainer, I could train the dog, as I have said before. Since we are living in a world with high technology, I could just Google an issue, and I will be able to find several solutions. There is also a lot of literature about dogs, as well as information on how to train and maintain them. Also, I could pay for some of its food and toys. I could get a simple job like tutoring, shoveling snow out of the driveway, having a bake sale, etc. As you can see, dogs are not as bad as you think and they are great friends to have. Dogs are an amazing pet to have and I think that every little girl or boy needs one. They are really cute, smart, and will become the love of your life. Most of my friends have one and they are just an amazing animal. I have always wanted a dog since I was little, and I think now is the right time to get one. I think that children need dogs as a pet since it will teach them responsibilities, keep them mentally happy and fit, and they will be good friends and they are not as bad as you think. I have always imagined walking down the beach or running down the street with a dog, and my dreams can come true if I get one.

I am the proud owner of a little brown dog named Bruno. I rescued him from the pound while I was in high school. The pound was unsure exactly what kind of dog Bruno was, but stated he is part Dachshund. I mentioned earlier, I rescued Bruno, but in reality he rescued me. My senior year of high school was not the greatest time for me, but owning Bruno got me through it. At the time, I just broke up with my high school “sweetheart” so to my immature young mind, I thought the world was coming to an end and I would never find someone else. Whether it was taking Bruno for walks, or trying to teach him new tricks he kept my mind occupied. I was given the responsibility to take care of him. I made sure he had all of his shots and there was fresh food and water for him. Until he was house broken, I was responsible to clean up after him. By being responsible for another being, it keeps a person centered not always thinking about themselves and their needs.…

As iconic as Bob Marley’s music remains, his legend is more than just good sound. Marley’s songs are rooted to the idea that music is symbolic enough to spark a change within others. Marley’s significance transcends from protesting against the system by fighting and writing about it all while inspiring generations of youth to do the same. Ainouche said that "Perhaps roots reggae is currently less palpable, but it remains a potent form of dialogue that challenges the hegemony of supremacy and racism" (par 23). This statement confirms that original meaning of reggae has disappeared as time went on. Instead, the genres that bred from reggae carry on the symbolic meaning that reggae remains a voice of protest and rebellion.…
