Why geography matters More Than Ever was an informative book written by Harm de Blij. Harm wrote this book to give people reasons why geography matters. This was the hardest book I have ever read; it was full of facts but could become very boring at times. This book taught me a lot of new thing and showed me that geography really does matter. I am glad I read it because it taught a lot.

With a gps and google maps no one really has to know how to read a map anymore. This chapter also talks about the history of maps. Maps have been around for a long time. Harm said they have been around for 5000 plus years. That is amazing to me. Harm said that people would make maps by marking on clay or stone. It is fascinating how far back map history goes. It also mentions how the Chinese would locate places and get to them much faster than any other country because of maps. But now maps are a lot easier to make because of technology and satellites in the sky taking pictures of the earth. This chapter also talks about how symbols and legends are very helpful for reading maps and how they should always be used.
