On the 11th of November 1918, the Armistice was signed by Germany, France, and Britain that ended the first World War after four years of fighting. While negotiations had not yet been made with the Treaty of Versailles, the fight had finally ended. While both sides of the conflict, the Allies and the Central powers, were sure that their nation had a guaranteed fast win with their technological advances and all, it was Germany who lost in the end. Germany had been fighting a two-front war, but they had defeated the Russian army on the Eastern Front and forced their hands into signing the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, so what caused Germany to lose on the Western Front? Unlike with how close Germany got to capturing France’s capital, Paris, with the…
Germany's inability to pay war reparations as specified in the Treaty of Versailles was caused by the main industrial areas of Germany being taken away. Inflation, a result of the attempt to pay war reparations, severely crippled the population, especially the lower middle class. The deprived people of Germany feel easily into the hands of authoritarian parties such as the Nazis and the Communist. The Treaty also forced Germany to limit its armed forces and forbade them from having an air force, which created a bitter resentment towards the victors of WWI. As a result of the Treaty of Versailles and the economic disasters that followed, the German people became very resentful towards the victors of World War I, namely France and England. Additionally, virtually all of Germany's leaders fought in World War I and many were wounded and they all felt betrayed. They were eager for revenge. One of these WWI veterans happened to be a man named Hitler, Adolf Hitler. Hitler blamed economic problems on the allies who had forced the peace terms of the Treaty of Versailles on Germany. He joined the Nazi party which…
There are many reasons why Germany lost World War One. One major reason was because of the British Blockade of German Ships. The British Navy controlled the North Sea with their dreadnoughts. There was one major battle for the sea. It was the battle of Jutland, which was the most vital sea battle. Even though the Germans sunk more allied ships than the Allies against them, the German navy was still pushed back into port. The advancing technology, especially in weapons like mines and depth charges became invaluable to the British Navy to battle Submarines, and to keep the German Navy at bay. The British Blockade of Germany was one reason, why so many German prisoners were taken. They were hungry and fed up of the war. Back home in Germany, it wasn't much different. The German citizens were also starving, and the situation was getting worse by every day. In Germany in 1916, the adult meat ration for one week was the equivalent of two burgers in a modern fast-food restaurant. Faith in the Kaiser was reducing. The German public were putting pressure on the Government to stop fighting, to stop the war. The British Blockade also sunk any German ships that they found. The sinking of German Ships cut supplies of food and Nitrates to Germany - Nitrate being vital for the making of explosives for the army, and fertiliser for the farmers. The result of the British Blockade was that over 300,000 German died due to malnutrition during the 1914-1918 period (as I mentioned earlier). The advances in Aircraft Technology made Aeroplanes able to take-off and…
Although, Britain and France had had enough. Once Germany invaded Poland, they realized they had to put Hitler to a stop, before he invaded all of Europe. Finally, starting World War 2, the two countries declared war on Germany.…
World War I left Germany vulnerable and leaderless. Germany struggled economically, like any other country in the world, especially hard. They did not just lose the war; they lost territory, military, money, and hope. Paul von Hindenburg, president of Germany appointed Adolf Hitler Chancellor on January 30, 1933 along with the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazis. Germany did not stay a democracy for long. The Enabling Act permitted one cabinet, the Nazi Party, to be in place for four years, giving Hitler full dictatorship.…
After World War 1 Germany was economically depressed, the people were unhappy, they didn't have confidence in their government, they were a broken country. The Treaty of Versailles put such heavy restrictions on Germany that they had to change their currency from the German mark, because it became so worthless; give up the industrial heart of Germany (Rhineland); promise never to make arms, tanks, and aeroplanes; and reduce their army from 6 million people to 100,00 which resulted in unemployment for a large number of German people. Germans were unemployed, poor, and disheartened. Hitler came and gave the Germans employment by building an army and taking back the Rhineland, and this helped give Germans hope for the future.…
Once I was a nation known for extreme anti-semitism and prejudice against other races. My leader, Adolf Hitler, caused the deaths of 6 million jews in a horrific series of events known as the Holocaust. The Holocaust lasted for approximately 12 years. I am ashamed that such a heinous occurrence is a big part of my history. During this time WW2 also took place.…

After First World War, the Treaty of Versailles took away Germany's colonies and forced the country to pay $33 billion to Britain and France in the Paris Peace Conference. This enslaved the German people. Unemployment and inflation were out of control in Germany. This left Germany with grievances. Hitler promised to rebuild the nation and seek revenge against the Allies. This made him and his Nazi Party wildly popular in Germany during the 1930s. In just a few short years, Hitler revived the economy, built up a massive army, re-militarized the Rhineland and took over neighboring countries. But the extreme nationalism and all of this led to war in 1939.…
It was 1939, and Germany was becoming a threat, breaking the Treaty of Versailles which did not allow them to build an army, but under Hitler they were building an army and had mad ideas. As it started gaining back land from which they lost in World War 1, neighbouring countries became alert of its aggressiveness. It was given the little land it wanted in hope that it would back down from other countries. But as how Winston Churchill anticipated, it did not. Germany began conquering nearby countries like Poland.…

The First World War ended with the triple entente as victorious (with help from the Americans). Some reasons to why the allies won the war were because of; Germany had to fight a war on two fronts, the unstable political situation in Germany, the allied naval blockade, German economy, failure of the schlieffen plan, interception of the Zimmerman telegram, the German naval blockade on Britain (sinking of American ships), development of the tank and anti-submarine weapons, the advancement of new technology that required new tactics.…
Hitler's foreign policy, the development of a dictator state, Nazism it's self, strong animosity towards the Treaty of Versailles and the quest for 'living space' saw the beginning of World War Two. Living space or ‘Lebensraum’ was to be in the east for the Herrenvolk, the German master race, to live in at the cost of the Soviet Union. Purely Hitler and his ideology fueled conflict in Europe, nothing but aggressive, violent and forceful acts would have stopped him and his extreme foreign policy. However through appeasement the allied countries delayed war and created time to rearm, in order to halt Nazism.…
