Why Guns Should Be Banned

Why do people keep guns? These days many people own and carry guns with them in the name of security and protection. Many people own guns such as rifles and shotguns for the sport of hunting. The government allows people to own and carry guns by having a background check and getting a permit, but there are many private gun sellers who sell guns without any background checks and giving permits. The possession of guns should be strictly banned because they are the sign of violence, they have increased the rates murders and insecurity, and even many children have killed other children.
The first reason that guns should be banned for ordinary citizens is that guns are the sign of violence. Guns are made for killing and harming other human beings. In many states there are “Shoot First” laws that allow people to defend themselves in public using guns with no duty to retreat. The Shoot First law can be dangerous to other people who are present in the area and people can get injured and killed. Many families do not keep their guns in safe places that children couldn’t reach. For example, in South Carolina a 2-year-old shot his grandmother in the back while she was riding in the back seat of the car the child found the gun in the back of the front seat and shot his grandmother. Since children don’t know the concept of killing and harming people they have injured and killed many people, even children have killed their own parents and siblings. For example, a child shot his father in an event where many people were present. These kinds of incidents have happened many times because the parents didn't pay attention to the consequences of keeping guns.
