The conflict between the Israelis and the Arabs is still an ongoing issue today with many problems over land, terrorism and other disagreements still not resolved. These have caused many tensions between the surrounding Arab countries, creating an unstable and insecure region that is more volatile, due to the demise of stable leaderships in the region. Also all the countries relationships with Israel are changing, and are very unreliable, especially with Egypt where they have a peace agreement with Israel. However they have had a bit of a revolution, and a new leader was appointed, however he was deposed. This makes their relationship unsecure. Nevertheless Israel has many of their own problems that need to be solved. There are still hundreds of checkpoints and barriers across the west bank today. This means that the Palestinians find it hard to get to their jobs and everyday life. One of the main reasons that this conflict is still an issue today is the issue over land. At the moment there is still no Palestine, due to the 1948-49 war. This was when the Israelis drove out the Arabs from their land, and also some of the granted land by the UN, leaving them only with the West bank which was run by Jordan and the Gaza strip run by Egypt. This caused over 700,000 Palestinian Arabs to flee their homes and become refugees. There were already half a million refugees before the war and now today there are over 3 million Arab refugees.
