Why I Chose And Attend Swarthmore College
I am absolutely positive that the limit of 250 words is not enough for me to talk about my reasons for wanting to apply and attend Swarthmore College. Yet, I will try to make myself as brief and clear as possible. Initially, I was not familiar with Swarthmore at all. My classmates convinced me to take a look at it, so I began my research. Right away I was surprised to discover that the college was situated near the southwest of Philadelphia. The following was good news for me, since I would prefer to commute rather than live on campus. This is what I thought before seeing the pictures of the extraordinarily beautiful campus. I adored the combination of green and architecture. My most favorite place was the Scott Arboretum Amphitheater.

Of all the characters from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”, Beatrice is perhaps the most interesting. As a brilliant and outspoken, her character is quite the opposite of her cousin, Hero. One must ask, “In what way is Beatrice different from other women during Shakespeare's era?” And furthermore, “for what purpose did the author write her as the firm character she plays as?” Beatrice’s character cannot be adequately pegged down by the interpretation of the reader, as she is both seemingly realistically presented and yet fictionally portrayed by the author.…

The reason I chose Samford was because I do not feel as if I am just another student, but I am being accepted into a family. What was most important to me about the franklin college was that it is in my home town and I feel like I have a better connection with it since I live about less than 100 feet from it. The things I have learned about the history of the college is that the prosecutor that prosecuted president’s Abraham Lincolns assassin went to the franklin college. I know now that many great minds and people went to a small town to a great college that has served many purposes threw out its…

Growing up Iranian American, I was greatly impacted by the opinions of my peers early on. Classmates would criticize my lunch or convey evident shock at the fact that I was Muslim, so I grew up feeling patronized for much of my early life. Eventually, I began surrounding myself with others who were also in my shoes, facing the discrimination that came along with being different. Over the years growing up surrounded in a fusion of cultures has made me appreciate the diversity that makes each culture so unique. Growing up traveling the world, learning multiple languages and being encouraged to accept all that cultures have to offer is something that is very beneficial in today’s global society and something that I will bring to SMU’s diverse campus. Should I be fortunate enough to attend SMU I will bring my open mind and worldly perspective to the learning environment and clubs on campus. Within the classroom I’d apply my background in my desire to study conflict within the Middle East and ways to resolve that.…

I would like to be part of William Penn Honors Program for a multitude of reasons. First, and foremost, I love to learn. I especially love history and reading the great writers and thinkers of history. I believe the William Penn Honors Program will be a rigorous, but rewarding experience, where I can learn from these great thinkers of history by pondering the ideas of the ancients and our forefathers and applying them to life today. Additionally, education is important, however, as the proverb states, “Knowledge without wisdom is futile.” Therefore, another reason I want to be part of the William Penn Honors Program is the stated emphasis on honing your critical thinking skills and deepening your understanding and cultural awareness. Also,…

The reason why I'm in college is because I want a better future for myself and to show my family that I can become somebody one day. Sometimes I would say to myself like “why am I even here? This place is not the place for me “. In other words college is not for everybody because not everyone who lives with their parents who can afford for tuition for college. But for me I realize that staying alone and not doing nothing for me was the biggest mistake I ever made as young adult at the age of nineteen. Soon as I turn 20 I decided that it was time for me to do something that’s going to be right for myself which was working and going to college. The first day of me attending college was amazing meeting new people and getting to know others such as colleagues.…
