Photographers can have many different tasks. The major task done by all people in this careeer is taking pictures. That being said, people might think that is the only task done. But, according to BLS.com alot of photographers edit pictures. They can also spend a lot of time practicing different angles or ways to shoot. Study says that the schedule will be busy with clients more often than not. Meaning, the time will be filled with researching ideas and doing photoshoots. These are the most common tasks done by a photographer. Salary and what the job offers can have a big toll when choosing a career. The salry for taking photos to some might be kind of low. “Photographers made an average $36,580 per year, or $17.59 per hour, as of May 2011”, states the BLS. Plus, study also says that due to its lower salary photography is for some better as a side job. Either way, it still has other benefits. Like, according to work being a self employed photographer has lots of benefits. I could work as many hour as I feel needed or even please if I chose self employment. Another thing I could choose is specific clients that interest me artistically or financially. Photography has lots of benefits to consider before deciding to go into it.
As with other jobs, photography can have its advantages and its disadvantages. I like to look more at the advantages. To list a few, photographers help save fun memories through photos. Study says that being a photographer is a “fun” and “adventurous” job. They also say that big freedoms come with this job especially when being self employed. These are some pretty great advantages. But, with advantages comes disadvantages. On the other hand, BLS says self employment can be a disadvantage. BLS claims that not having insurance benefits is a major disadvantage. They also say that some jobs offer much higher salary. These disadvantages could persuade someone to lose interest in photography. But, all jobs come with positives and negatives and I belive this is the job for me.
Some workplaces have specific work environments.
Photography is one that does not. The work environment can vary. For the photos I plan on taking, my environment will be parties and other events. But, there are lots of different work environments for other types of photographers. BLS list a few including, studios, outdoors, concerts, and much more. The situation can be unorganized. Some clients might have an idea for how they want things but others won't. That is why photographers have to have an idea of what they want and need to shoot. Photographers have multiple work settings there's no way of really suggesting there is just
one.
After doing my research I think this is a perfect job for me. The disadvantages like salary and weather permitting didn't quite change my mind. One advantage that really hooked me in was to help people save fun memories through photos.I also think the salary is fair and the benefits like self employment would fit my lifestyle better. Although, the work environment can vary I think it would be fun to practice taking pictures in different places. Photography does not specifically need education besides high school degree. If planning to take a year off before college or not going, being a photographer is a good choice. Also, I really like editing photos and exploring different ways to take a photo. For those reasons and many more I think beinga photographer is the perfect career for me.
