“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” Many things have influenced my decision to continue my education but the number one reason is that I enjoy learning. There’s always something new to learn and use for the future. My parents encouragement has pushed me to become a better, stronger student and I am thankful for that. Both of my parents, and sisters went through college so, it has always been an expectation of me to go to college as well. I’ve never not thought about attending college. I have worked very hard and pushed my limits in high school so I could get into college. I hold myself to a very high standard. I believe the best thing to do for myself, and anyone, is to get an education. …show more content…
I have really enjoyed learning about sonography. Sonography is non-invasive medical procedures that uses the echoes of high-frequency sound waves to make an image of internal organs or body structures. Which is known as an ultrasound. I have really came to love this career because I truly love helping people. I feel that I would get the satisfaction of helping save someone’s life. The images that sonographers take help diagnose, treat, and cure people. People’s lives are dependent on the images that the sonographer takes. Shadowing these workers has encouraged me to look deeper into this field and realize there is so much more than just taking pictures all day. You’re constantly learning and examining new parts of the body everyday. I am a people person and I feel that I would very much enjoy the one on one time with a patient. The mental health field is something I have considered for the same reason being that I want to help people. It is very intimidating at times when many of my classmates already know what they want to do in the future and I am still unsure. I think that as long as I enjoy what I do, I will be satisfied with my

The first reason I pursued college is because I want a career. Most of the adults in my life did not attend college, and ended up working deadend, low paying jobs. Day in and day out they perform the same menial, monotonous tasks. I would often recieve words of advice from these people, all of which followed the same general pattern: "Don't get a job, get a career".…

There is nothing that means more to me as a young student than going to college so I can build upon my education. Not only would it benefit me, but I believe my family would benefit also, if not indirectly. Going to college would make me the first generation in my family to work hard enough to further my education. Not only did my parents not go, my grandfather did not attend also. If there is anyone who has pushed my to do my very best to do well in school, it is my grandparents because I know they want me to succeed and live a good life. Since neither of my parents were able to attend college, it is important to me to set an example for my younger brothers and sister. It was never questioned that I would attend college. The value of education has been instilled in my family for generations. My great grandma Lil started it all: after growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, she matriculated at the City University of New York with degrees in law, math, and education. Perhaps due to the Great Depression, she found work where it was available as a grade school teacher, and she never stopped learning. Grandma Lil was enrolled in classes until the day she died. Her passion was a…
