Why I Chose To Become A Mental Health Nurse

Mental Health problems are probably the single most common affliction in our population with 1 in 4 of us experiencing some kind of mental health problem. Therefore I think that mental health nursing is one of the most emotionally fulfilling careers available. Nursing someone back to health who has suffered from a great distress is the most rewarding and essential jobs I can think off. Helping them to have a brighter future, and to maintain their dignity’s as humans. When my friend developed depression at a young age, I provided her with support and encouraged her to talk to her doctor about it, as well as follow her treatment with great interest and support her through good and bad days. I created a trustful relationship with her and gave her the care and supervision she needed. From this experience I had a better understanding of the illness and how to treat it. This is why I feel I can encourage and support people that are suffering from mental health conditions.
