Why I Want To Be A Crime Scene Therapist

For most of the time before I started college I wanted to work in the medical field such as possibly a registered nurse or dental assistant. It was something I thought had an easy outcome. In reality, I knew that this is not what I wanted to do in the long run, it was not for me. It was not until I saw the movie “Hannibal” that it sparked my influence to want to work somewhere within the criminal justice field. I thought Jodie Foster position in the movie was interesting and I wanted to do something like that. From there it sparked my influence to wanting to work in crime scene investigation (CSI). A crime scene investigator is an individual who goes to where a crime has occured and collects and preserves every piece of evidence that is found and saved for later
However, some smaller agencies may just accept an associates degree. It is also recommended to have completed certificates and get required licenses. There is no needed experience since an individual would get the training on hand at the jobsite. The skills that are needed for this profession is to be very detail oriented since there will be many reports, be able to communicate verbally, and to have excellent organizational skills. Along with this career, if one wanted to be able to test DNA and such, it is recommended to pursue in learning biology and other subjects such as biochemist to broaden their choices (“Crime Scene Investigator Career Info”) Also, when pursuing this career it is also very important to have strong vocal and written communication skills because of the fact that there are many times one has to appear in court to testify or explain to other police officers about their findings in the scene (Roufa).
