Survey Results:
I completed two surveys. Basic Skills, to show what careers would fit my skills. Career Cluster, to show what careers I could be involved in and interested in. My basic skills displayed that I am an active learner, learning strategies and a high score in writing.
The Career Cluster Survey notified that I would be skilled in Health Science and Law and Public Safety. Health Sciences, planning, Managing, and providing Therapeutic Services, Biotechnology Research …show more content…
and Development. Law and Public Safety, providing legal, public safety, protective and security services.
The Basic Skills Survey defines me precisely in a way. My apical skill was writing. I engage in a percentage of writing and enjoyed it since I was little, I would describe myself a little above average for my age and find joy in writing my own stories. Active Learning was my following, in which I believe have more weaknesses. I’ve never been the utmost active learner and don’t find learning enjoyable, but more of a challenge. I would portray myself as a slow learner when it comes to things I don’t understand or enjoy, overall I think the survey characterized me well.
Career Choice:
The career that I believe suits me the best is a Criminal Investigator.
I would like to be a Veterinarian but, based on my basic skills I find a Criminal Investigator to be more fit for my career than a Veterinarian. A Criminal Investigator is a law enforcement professional who attempts to solve crimes, identify and detain suspects, and prevent further instances of criminal activity.
Criminal Investigators investigate criminal violations of the law to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution. The average salary for a Criminal Investigator is around $57,900 per year. Their job is usually to prepare reports that detail investigation findings, identify case issues, obtain and verify evidence, interview suspects, investigate organized crime, records information, and testify in front of a grand jury. By the time I graduate from college the world will continue to have criminals and as the future of our generation I could have the chance to take …show more content…
responsibility.
High School:
Criminal Investigators generally need at least a high school diploma or equivalent for entry-level jobs at state and local law enforcement agencies. Annual salary for investigators depends on education and experience which is why the right courses are necessary for pursuing your career.
High school courses in Law, Math, Data Management and Statistics will be helpful. My intention is to take math honors because, Criminal Investigators must be problem solvers, have well-developed reasoning and critical-thinking skills and be able to educate people. Skills in writing and reading to write interview subject, write extensive reports, and to teach me how to construct an argument and analyze evidence to support and help develop Critical Thinking skills. To advice me understand how factors like poverty, abuse and cultural trends influence crime, it would be best to take Psychology, Proficiency, and Social Studies. All courses mentioned give you insight that will help you do your job as a Criminal Investigator.
Extra core classes and volunteering options can often help with your chances of getting into college and getting the job you want. To be a Criminal Investigator it would good to consider volunteering as a Lifeguard, Prison Volunteer and Ski Patrol. Joining Martial arts would also be a good thing to learn when being a Criminal Investigator.
College Goals:
While some Criminal Investigators have a college education, the majority have nothing more than a high school diploma.
For a more sutiable pay it would be recommended to get a bachelor's degree or a masters degree but not required. A bachelor’s or even a master’s degree in criminal justice or law enforcement can lead to advancement and better pay. Criminal Investigations degrees are generally two-year programs consisting of the fundamentals of evidence, law handling, and
Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement, a program that prepares individuals to apply theories and practices of organization management and criminal justice to the administration of public law enforcement agencies and operations. Criminal Justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments to uphold social control and a field of study. Criminology, exploring the anatomy of crime and individual behavior, including its causes, consequences and costs. A Bachelor of Science is also a common degree you can pursue as a criminal justice administration major.
Fayetteville State University is an affordable school for a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement. Application fee is $40.00 and in-state tuition of $2,982. I think it’s most fit for me because its not a private school and isn’t overpriced. My parents have saved money for me and hope to witness me graduate from college someday.
Conclusion:
In the end, I’m still in middle school and have a long time to prepare myself for college, but now I feel I have a better visual of what I want and what my future will be like. What I liked about this project is the way it helped learn about the different careers suited for me. What I didn’t like is that it took me to a whole different career than what I wanted to be. I would recommend and have recommended my friends and other kids to use this so that they could plan out their future too. Throughout this project I found many jobs to be interested in and hopefully one day i’ll be ready to invest in one of those careers.
