Why I Want To Be An Animal Veterinarian

When I was nine years old, the horse that my sister was riding stepped in a gopher hole. As the news came back that he had broken his leg and had to be put down as a result of it, my sister was devastated. Right then, as I watched my sister get comforted by my parents, I knew that I wanted to try to help other people and their animals so they never had to feel the loss that my sister felt. That is when I knew I wanted to be a large animal veterinarian. I chose animal science as my major because it will provide me hands- on experience with animals that I could not get with other departments. It would allow me to have a solid animal background before veterinary school as well as get the prerequisites needed.
