Why I Want To Be An Eagle Essay

Focusing on my effort to become an Eagle Scout, I faced many obstacles but worked very hard and was determined to become an Eagle Scout. On my path to becoming an Eagle Scout, there were many people who doubted my ability and leadership skills. However, I persevered and focused on my goal. From the time I joined the Boy Scouts at age thirteen, I had been hearing about the Boy Scouts and the highest rank that could be achieved. Hearing stories about previous Eagle Scouts that had come through my troop and how highly they were spoken of, gave me the motivation to set a goal to reach that position. There were not many previous Eagle Scouts, and becoming one would set me apart from the rest of the scouts. I remember as a Boy Scout, making a pinky promise with my mother to follow
After advancing from average camping to Boy Scouts, I earned twenty-seven merit badges and it was during this time that I began to focus on my goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. The hardest part was not moving through the ranks or earning my merit badges because I did that very quickly, but it was getting my Eagle Scout project approved. Through the process of becoming an Eagle Scout, a community service project had to be approved to move on to the final stage of scouting. I presented several projects for approval to the chairman of my troop and all were looked over until my Scoutmaster had an idea of his own. I felt at that time this was unfair because later when I passed my board of review to become an Eagle Scout, I felt a little cheated because I was not the one to establish the project's’ connections. One year after all the planning, discussions, and city council meetings, my project was finally approved and accepted and I completed the first section of clearing and creating a walking trail in the City of Des
