Why I Want To Go To George Mason University
My thoughts about the education I have received, life lessons and athletic training are endless, and I am certain written words could never come close to citing my true feelings. Undoubtedly, I am hopeful to carry these emotions with me wherever I go. I will certainly try to explain what I hope to gain out of George Mason University.

My second grade teacher, Ms. Di Loretta, triggered what was an explorative, thought provoking and profound academic journey for me. Her teachings provided me with an opportunity to improve my intellectual being. She engrained in me an intellectual stimulation that triggered something meaningful. She taught me that it was a risk to learn something useful and intriguing; I was academically inspired in ways I never dreamed. I am hopeful to take that passion for learning with me to George Mason University.

At Santa Margarita Catholic High School, the education and competitive spirit of athletics fueled me. My volleyball coach, Coach Daly, imparted on me her passion

However, honesty and the reality of the situation prevents me from saying so. The fact remains that Ms. Di Loretta and Coach Daly inspire me. While I am no longer their student in theory, I am a student of theirs in life. What I have as a take away from their teachings and training is something more powerful that I am sure Thoreau could have written. GMU is my future, one filled with promise.

I owe these teachers a debt of tremendous gratitude, for without them, I am certain that books and sports, with all their beauty and might would not hold the same value they do for me today. Their teachings are so far reaching; I have found that the finest place to be is in school –surrounded by knowledge. What I hope to gain at George Mason University is the opportunity to learn, to be inspired, and to be better than I was the day

Being a community, network, and family details my view of the “Hokie Spirit.” At Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT), I am certain that there is overwhelming support from professors and students because of the unique atmosphere I perceived when touring. While walking around the brick buildings, I felt as if all students knew each other, or that each of them had something in common. This aspect that every person who strode pass me entailed, was pride or “Hokie Spirit.” I could sense the fulfillment each individual had for attending one of the top public schools in the United States, and because of this, “Hokie Spirit” flourishes throughout the campus.…

Ave Maria University is known as a prestigious institution of learning. Each and every young adult has the right to learn. This brings me back to the times when I was given the opportunity and pleasure to mentor grade school students in the sport of baseball. I took this opportunity to not only teach them the fundamentals of the sport, but I was also blessed with learning compassion and patience from these young enthusiastic learners. This opened a door for me to go on to mentoring underprivileged students at the University of Illinois at Chicago campus. This touched me so much that it would be an honor while attending Ave Maria University, to get involved in mentoring and volunteer work on campus and within the community. My academic career choice is aimed at giving back. It would be a privilege to study here, especially for students like myself, whose careers may take them anywhere. A degree with your institution is sure to open doors and opportunities for me, regardless of where I am.…

Growing up Iranian American, I was greatly impacted by the opinions of my peers early on. Classmates would criticize my lunch or convey evident shock at the fact that I was Muslim, so I grew up feeling patronized for much of my early life. Eventually, I began surrounding myself with others who were also in my shoes, facing the discrimination that came along with being different. Over the years growing up surrounded in a fusion of cultures has made me appreciate the diversity that makes each culture so unique. Growing up traveling the world, learning multiple languages and being encouraged to accept all that cultures have to offer is something that is very beneficial in today’s global society and something that I will bring to SMU’s diverse campus. Should I be fortunate enough to attend SMU I will bring my open mind and worldly perspective to the learning environment and clubs on campus. Within the classroom I’d apply my background in my desire to study conflict within the Middle East and ways to resolve that.…

This was a very hard decision because I was the only person in my school who was involved in theater. This decision though has made me…

I was inspired to work within the field of education by several individuals within my family that have gone on and receive bachelor’s degrees, masters and even doctoral degrees. That has given me the drive to become a teacher; an African-American male teacher who did not have a good up-bringing and who is able to make a difference for those that maybe walking down the same path as I did. Furthermore, I believe I belong here at Bethune-Cookman University because it has been invested within me and I am a diamond…

Washington State has been my dream college since I was a baby. It has been my families university of choice. The two most influential in my life Uncle Tony Grafton and Grandpa Donald Grafton, both alumni, raised me as a cougar. At my birth my Uncle Tony Grafton showed up at the hospital with a stuffed cougar from the WSU bookstore that sang the fight song and a baseball hat. At the time Tony was still attending WSU. As a baby I'd run around the house singing the cougar fight song instead of baby lullabies; and that WSU baseball hat rarely left my head. I had worn that baseball cap so often as a young boy, I had turned the…

In my junior year of high school I attended a college fair at the Broward convention center. It was time for the college fair to end so I walked around to every table and came across St. Thomas University. I only had a few minutes but I stood and talked to a Representative from the school. During our conversation I mostly asked about the volleyball team because at the time I was captain of my volleyball team and wanted to play in college. After the brief conversation the representative handed me a pamphlet. On my way home I began to make a list of all the schools that I wanted to attend and I put St. Thomas in my list. In the summer of my junior year and the beginning of my senior year I began applying for schools and requesting a more information so I could make a decision on where I wanted to apply to. I continued to look at my list again and started checking off the schools I applied for when I finished the application. On December 3, I received an open house invitation from St. Thomas. I registered and went On December 6 with my mom to the open house. As I was walking on campus trying to find the Evelyn & George Goldbloom Convocation Hall. I began to have this feeling I couldn’t explain. At first I thought the feeling was excitement or nervousness but as the open house progressed I detected the feeling. During the open house, to start the program we had to say a prayer which, amazed me because I’m a believer in Christian faith and in order to start the day we have to pray. At that moment I began to like the school . I learned what the school valued, tututoin cost, all of the and what is most important to them. What really intrigued me the most about St. Thomas was the ambience of the school, the class size, the science department and the one on one time with the professor and it is a beautiful and peaceful campus. As we went on the tours we met the professors in the science department and they spoke to the group about…

Not that I’d never thought about anything before, but she really taught me how to do it well – how to make connections among different ideas, how to question the texts and issues presented to me, how to understand rather than memorize. She also encouraged me to write, to think on paper in poetry and prose, to create new works instead of only reading those of others. She believed in me, and her confidence made me believe in myself. Even though she’d been teaching English for probably twenty years or more and had taught hundreds of students, she still found ways to make me feel unique and valuable.…

In my school there are many teachers. Each one teaches us different subjects. Although all of them are fairly good, there is one teacher whom I love and admire the most. Her name is Mrs. Grace Gilo. There are some teachers, who hardly ever make an impact on, or touch someone’s life for the better. Some just go through life teaching. But there are some that change a person’s life, for the better. She was the kind of person that everyone loved. She never asked too much, or expected too much. She is the most pleasing personality that I have ever come across. She is an ideal teacher. She has all those qualities which a good teacher is expected to have.…
