A couple of years after becoming a LPN, I applied to DePaul University’s Master entry program to further my education, and thereby became a full-fledged RN. My dogged persistence paid off. In one way it deterred me from getting stuck to cab driving, despite a very good tax free – income. On the other, it allows me to envision my future as a great nurse.…

I hope to be a neonatal nurse. To aspire this goal, I will attend a four year college that offers pre-med opportunities as well as access to early internships. After graduation, I plan to apply to a med school in Oregon or California. The reason I plan to be a neonatal nurse has to do with the fact I want to make a change in someone's life. When I was eight years old, my baby brother was born premature due to the use of drugs. He was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for three months. He is now ten years old and has a weak immune system. My aunt, who is like a mother to me, had a checkup a week prior to her due date and found out that her baby had lost four pounds. My baby cousin is now nine months old and healthy. Seeing these kids…

The massive overcrowding in New York was epitomized by the tenements, which by 1880 housed over 600,000 people within 24,000. This awful statistic was one of many declared by Jacob Riis in his How The Other Half Lives. His work, influenced by other tenement reform advocates, synthesized the cause for reform together into this journal to convince those who were blind to the problem to want to also help. This essay will evaluate the methods and effectiveness of Riis's novel to convince the reader to be moved to help the overcrowding issue in New York.…

My aim is to start on a postgraduate program to master in mental health and also to start working part time as a mental health nurse. I’m also looking forward to improving my skills in mental health field doing endorsement and incentive programs which are approved by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), which are available online (ACMHN 2009). My ultimate goal is to become a mental health nurse practitioner. The main goal of working part time while doing my postgraduate studies is to improve my communication skills, medication knowledge, gain team work experience and to develop my confidence. Caring for others has always been a deep passion of mine. As part of my course I have recently attended placement at a local residential home, where I would talk to and assist in caring for the service users. It was at this placement that I discovered the importance at providing support to people who may be feeling confused or distressed, particularly individuals with dementia. As a nurse this is an important skill to have. Initiative is another of these skills, in which I developed during my second placement at a specialist support centre for adults with learning disabilities.…
