I look forward to studying the physiology of the eye. I am a person with a pride and care in the precision of my work. I am aware of how small details can have a big impact on an outcome, in my studies and in my wider experience of work. In optometry, every step can have far-reaching consequences and I feel that this will be a strength in my own practice.
In addition, I have worked independently to complete a project in Optometry, where I delve further into research, including clinical problems affecting eye health and the implications of technology in the field. In my current job as an optical assistant at Vision Express, I perform clerical duties, assist patients with lens types and interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists. Here, I have gained an insight into the importance of understanding ethical behaviour in a healthcare setting, where patient confidentiality and mutual respect are essential. This also enabled me to understand the importance of working as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team in order to deliver the best possible patient
