Why Igdv Should Not Be Allowed In School
All students who attended to IGDV School should follow the rules and are not allow to bring any electronic devices. I had nothing but a school computer with limited internet access. Social networks, such as Facebook, Google Plus, Youtube, and Pinterest, were banned in this school. I thought I was able to endure the boringness of life. Until one Thanksgiving Break, I envied other students who were able to play outside the school; therefore, I decided to use teacher's computer to update my games. (Luckily, I didn't play.) During the night of Thanksgiving, I cracked the computer password and started my update quickly. Due to my daily observation, I was able to guess the password and access to the teacher's computer. As soon as my games finished

Now meet Quinton Schafer, a self proclaimedself-proclaimed screen abuser. Schafer confessed to using his computer for several hours a week on a school night. His screen time doubles on weekends to about twelve hours. Since he attends West Valley High School he must also juggle school work and his athletics. The French, Spanish, and English all tried to colonize the Western Hemisphere. The French colonization in America started in the 16th century, and continued through centuries as France created an empire in the Western Hemisphere. They founded most colonies in the east of the U.S.A, and many Caribbean islands. The English were one of the most important colonizers of the Americas, and had a rivalry with the Spanish. The English began colonizing in the late 16th century and came out on top when all their colonies were built through America. The Spanish conquered most of the Western Hemisphere, and their colonization attempts were started by the Spanish conquistadors. It all started with Christopher…

Icy roads are a common occurrence for many during the winter. But if you’re not extremely careful, these conditions can become very dangerous very quickly. This was the case with Ethan. He was driving down a street when he hit a patch of ice and began sliding towards a stop sign that he crashed into. When police arrived, Ethan was arrested for speeding as the speed limit was 35 miles per hour on that particular road. There are two people who claim to have caught the crash but one says Ethan was speeding while the other says he was not. Ethan also never slowed down before crashing into the pole because his foot caught under the pedal because the floor was covered with trash which trapped it under the gas.…

Students shouldn’t have electronics for a week because it makes them distracted from their work and they are not thinking to their full potential. Students are constantly using online sources to figure out their problems, but without the internet they will have a chance to have deeper thinking. With no internet students will recognize how much more focused they will be.…

By blocking access to all social media, it can also block helpful ways of communication between students and teachers. By putting things in a social network perspective, students can use YouTube to learn about things inside their classroom. Computers and social media can become allies in the hands of a creative teacher. For example, I had a teacher in high school that used Twitter as a tool in her class. She used to tweet our homework, the things we did in class, and we had class discussions. The principal watched our tweets, and if we put anything that went beyond the school rules, we would not be able to use Twitter. This is a great tool for students and teachers to communicate other than Email. As teenagers and young adults, we use social media to communicate with others much more than email, phone calls, or appointments with the teacher.…

Now realize this is just a scenario that could or could not happen, but more realistically a teacher would have the knowledge that almost every student in the room, boy and girl, has at least one gaming console in their household. The nerd culture that was so correctly deemed “The Third Culture” by Kevin Kelly recognizes that nerds today are creators. The nerds have created so many life-like games that children are drawn, submersed, and addicted to computers, the internet, and virtual games. How is this useful to the teacher? A twenty first century classroom comes equipped with so much technology an older teacher could feel overwhelmed, but with the proper use of the technology, it becomes a useful tool…

The essay “Laptops in the Classroom? No Problem” by Elena Choy, states that banning laptops in the classroom in not the answer. I agree with Choy because with laptops in a classroom, students can access the internet and this is a great tool for research and also a means of communication by using tools like chats, e-mails and forums. With the arrival of the internet we were confronted with new possibilities, challenges and uncertainties in the process of learning and teaching. How can students and teachers adapt to a learning process involving a technology that is becoming increasingly sophisticated, and more challenging? For me, teaching, in a broad context, is to select and organize information in order to transform it into knowledge. Laptops can facilitate individual and group research as well as the exchange of ideas between teachers, their colleagues and their students. Using laptops to access the internet provides students with an exchange of experiences, questions, materials, personal exchanges, both of whom are geographically near and far. Laptops can help teachers to better prepare their class by expanding the ways to teach, to modify the evaluation process and communication with students and colleagues.…

While general access is not denied, some children may not be exposed to computers and other technology because of socio-economic status. A child may live in a home without a computer, and chances are he will attend a poor school district with limited numbers of computers available. A student may get to use a computer for a short time, or only as a once-a-week activity instead of a regular class period. This puts these children at a disadvantage…
