One of the things the movie of 1408 did better than the story of 1408 is the power of sound.
In the movie of 1408 sound is one of the things that makes it such a scare movie. An example of music being used to help scare you is when Mike looks out his window and sees a man watching tv. He waves at man and the man waves back but he then starts doing other things and the man copies whatever Mike is doing. Mike then sees a man beside the other man this makes mike think that maybe is behind him. With a loud sound que we see the other man attack Mike and after running from him the man is gone. This works so well because if there was no music when the man attack then it wouldn’t have scared the viewer as
well. What really made 1408 so scary? What I felt like made 1408 so scary in the story was the background of 1408 and the strange things that happen in the room. Then in the movie I felt like they did a better a job making 1408 more scary. I feel this way because in a movie you can see what makes it so scary but in the story you have to imagine what the room would look like and what happens. Now this has do with the suspense because in the movie you can show the suspense that is going on the room but in the story you kind of have to picture the suspense that is going on. An example of this is when Mike try’s going out the window to go over to the next room over. If this was in the story you would be told how Mike was feeling and not really shown the danger he is in. Before giving my opinion on what version of the story I felt made the better suspense in their story I will go over what the stories did right with the suspense. I talked about how in both versions of the story of the did a good job of building up the backstory of 1408. How the movie did a good job of using sound to scary the viewer. The finally I talked about what really made 1408 is what see that makes it so scary. In conclusion I believe that the movie did a better job of building suspense than the story because it did a good job of showing the scare parts of 1408.
