Using animals to test on provides us a better determination of how humans will react, it is an better option than finding it out too late on humans. Not to mention it saves human lives worldwide, it can find several cures to diseases. The fatality rate of childhood cancer has decreased markedly from 95% to 25%, this we have animal testing to thank for. This is one of the factors to why I think that animal testing is good and should be allowed.
Firstly, we all have at some point met someone with Thalidomide damage which is a disease that came with an analgesic tablet for pregnant women. It was released way too early and were withdrawn very slowly. As a consequence there was severe malformations in thousands …show more content…
But, not all testing is an evil act. Most tests does not kill animals, but helps them as well. Millions of pets would have been dead because of the over 200 diseases that did not have a cure before. There are non-animal methods which have played an important part of biomedical research, despite the fact they cannot replace the use of animals. The animal protection law have set limits for how far you are allowed to go current animal testing. This should not cause any unnecessary suffering and animals are only used when it seems too riskful to test on humans. The Animal Rights protects the animals and makes sure that the tests are completed correctly. Legally these operations are done by educated doctors and in special environments. The testings also have to be approved by agencies who works with these questions before being implemented. In addition, over 80% of the animals that are used for animal testing of medical purpose are pests and would have been killed in any case. Rats and mice constitutes the majority and it is better that they help to develop the medication research and to decrease
