In that time period was when contracts started happening for the sport. They didn’t want their players to go to different clubs for higher pay. So they created contracts. But with them making them sign contracts they could no longer miss out on any games. They could not forfeit anymore games. They also created the gentlemen's agreement which endeavored to bar non-white players in the national league. Which meant no one except whites could play in the leagues.
Things were looking great for the sport of baseball. Until the players started to rebel against the national league. The main reason for the rebelling against the national league was the players didn’t like the fact they couldn’t switch clubs. Which then would split the leagues into the National league and the American association. After world war two, baseball became a fast growing sport. It was changing in all sorts of ways and growing due to the new rules and regulations. The sport changed drastically when the color barrier in 1946 was broken. In that year a man by the name of Jackie Robinson joined the Major leagues. He was a African American. The African Americans did have their own leagues, but they didn’t get paid or anything from those leagues. When the Brooklyn Dodgers signed Jackie a lot of people were mad. They were mad because a African American joined the famous league, made up of only white people. After he was signed it took a few years for other teams to follow, but the other teams did sign African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, and all other types of people. The major league was changed and it wasn’t just made up of all Caucasian men anymore.
