Vernon McGarity, one of the many Medal of Honor recipients, was born on December 1, 1921 in Hardin County, Tennessee (“Serving His Country”). He first came to Paris in the late 1930’s, while employed in the Civilian Conservation Corps (“Serving His Country”). During WWII he decided to join the U.S. Army in Model, in Stewart County (“Serving His Country”). He then moved up and served as a technical sergeant with the 99th Infantry Division during the Battle of Bulge in December 1944 “(Serving His Country”). He was a very brave man, he never let anything, including serious wounds hold him back. During one instance…
While moving up the hill he lost many men but fought forward. During this time the German's raised a white flag and when his closest friend and father figure Private Tipton rose he was riddled with bullets from the surrendering Germans. In a rage and out of ammo he captured a German machine gun and killed all the soldiers in the nest. Then without breaking stride he ran up the hill and took out several more nests single handedly. For this he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and gave it to Private Tipton's…
The bravest animal on Animal Farm is, Boxer. Boxer’s bravery is the main reason as to why Animal Farm was prosperous. He didn‘t gave up, he stole food from them to survive and share it. In 1953, he was sent free and back home safely. With the third veteran, Hershel Williams, war was in The Island of Iwo Jima and started on February 21, 1945. He wasn‘t prepared, he was on a reserved group not ready for war, but when they got to they island, war started. He still fought but didn‘t know much. His sergeant told him to use the fire gun in order to burn down the pillboxes. He didn‘t know how to use them, but still tried and succeed burning many pillboxes in hours. In my opinion, the men remembering their experiences are really brave. Some men don‘t like to remember this because it was brutal and horrible, but these honorable men were brave enough to tell us. I believe these men were able to do this things because of their nation and their family back home. They wanted to protect others, so they gave everything they had to do it. Also because on the interview they said, "It was my job, so I did it." I think the war change them to become better men. Might be bigger than better, they became loyal, honorable, and brave soldiers. Many years later, they received the medal of…

However, through all the suffering and heartbreak, the close relationship between the men and their horses shone through. All had their own names, personalities and histories, never to be forgotten.…
Boxer was always a strong horse, born on the pastures of Kent, son of Patricia and Frederick. Boxer grew up being a strong shire horse, he was one of the favourites on Animal Farm but he was more brains than brawn. Boxer played an instrumental role in the battle of the cowshed in hope to drive Mr Jones and his men away from the farm. He also helped quite a lot in the mighty construction of the windmill, which was later knocked down. Boxer had many companions at Animal Farm, such as clover the other horse he shared a stabled with. He was very liked around the farm and earned an animal hero first class medal! Unfortunately he couldn’t get past the letter D on the alphabet, even though he did live to be about 11 years old.…
Old Major, a prize-winning boar, gathers the animals of the Manor Farm for a meeting in the big barn. He tells them of a dream he has had in which all animals live together with no human beings to oppress or control them. He tells the animals that they must work toward such a paradise and teaches them a song called “Beasts of England,” in which his dream vision is lyrically described. The animals greet Major’s vision with great enthusiasm. When he dies only three nights after the meeting, three younger pigs, Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer formulate his main principles into a philosophy called Animalism. Late one night, the animals manage to defeat the farmer Mr. Jones in a battle, running him off the land. They rename the property Animal Farm and dedicate themselves to achieving Major’s dream. The cart-horse Boxer devotes himself to the cause with particular zeal, committing his great strength to the prosperity of the farm and adopting as a personal maxim the affirmation “I will work harder.”…
A cult known as the Boxers has brought about a war in China. The Boxers are part of an evil doing secret society that originated ten years ago. This society has turned against the innocents: are very own missionaries, and those who see refuge with god. These savages have been committing acts of blasphemy. They have pillaged our churches, burned our brave preachers at stave, and ruthlessly slaughtered our followers. These barbarians have murdered hundreds of thousands of women and children. The Qing dynasty has done nothing to stop this. As a matter of fact, our sources state they have been supporting the Boxers.…
Some of the positive consequences are admiration and honor when he died. In the novel it quotes “Napoleon himself appeared at the Meeting on the following Sunday morning and pronounced a short oration in Boxer’s honour” (126). Napoleon is recognizing Boxer. Boxer’s work ethic is being noticed and announced at his funeral. When Boxer was working hard he was always being a role model. It quotes "Boxer was the admiration of everybody. He had been a hard worker even in Jones's time" (17) said the narrator. The narrator states that Boxer was being admired by everyone on the farm no matter what time of the day or year. In addition to his positive consequences, he was happy for a while. “The animals were happy as they had never conceived it possible to be” (24). Boxer was happy for this moment because he received food that he made himself with the other farm animals and it was only for him and the other animals in the farm. Boxer’s positive consequences were being looked up at, honor, and momentary…

He has become accustomed to getting special treatment and privileges unlike the other hardworking animals on the farm. “The importance of keeping the pigs in good health was all too obvious. So it was agreed without further argument that the milk and windfall apples (and also the main crop of apples when they ripened) should be reserved for the pigs alone.” (53) By eating and not opposing to having the milk and apples, he is already disobeying the commandments and main principle of Animalism where all animals are equal amongst each other. At the battle of Cowshed, Snowball also awards himself the honour of Animal Hero-First Class. Although the decision was “unanimous” it was quite clear Snowball held a heavy and imposing influence on the voting. This word was used to fake democracy on the farm giving the animals a sense of freedom. “The animals decided unanimously to create a military decoration, “Animal Hero, First Class,” which was conferred there and then on Snowball and Boxer.” (60) In order to gain more respect and heighten his importance, by receiving this award he has justified his position on the farm of being a leader admired by his…
