Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra was considered one of the greatest artist of the 20th century, but an ever bigger achievement is that he is one of the greatest artist of all time. Sinatra was born in
Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 12, 1915. Sinatra was inspired to become a singer after watching Bing Crosby perform. Bing Crosby inspired Sinatra so much, that he decided to drop of out high school and started to sing at nightclubs. Sinatra continued to sing at the nightclubs, which later not only caught the radios attention, but also caught the attention of Harry James.
Harry James was so interested in Sinatra that he helped Sinatra make his first recording, “All or
Nothing at All.” Later on, Sinatra decided to become a solo artist, which jump started his career.
Sinatra’s solo career started with a bang when we charted seventeen Top 10 singles.
Sinatra became so popular that his fans started to give him nicknames such as, “The Voice” and
“The Sultan of Swoon.” Sinatra was not only a great singer, but won an Academy Award and an
Oscars for movies that he starred in such as, The House I Live In and
From Here to Eternity.
In
the 1950’s, Sinatra found his way back to the music industry and began to sing jazz. Later in the mid1960’s, Sinatra was the founded the Rat Pack, which included Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean
Martin, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Sinatra later decided to retire in the early 1970’s, but it did not last long for Sinatra recorded the album “Ol’ Blue Eyes is Back” in 1973.
Later on in Sinatra’s life, he released the Frank Sinatra’s Duets, which included a group of 13 songs that Sinatra sang with Barbia Streisand, Bono, Tony Bennest, and Aretha Franklin.
The release of the Frank Sinatra’s Duets gained the approval and likes of younger fans. Sinatra continued to perform until 1995, where he performed for the last time at the Palm Desert
Marriott Ballroom in California. Sinatra retired and later had a heart attack and passed away at the age of 82. Sinatra was apart of the performing business for more than 50 years and he was one of the greatest artists to ever live.
