ABSTRACT
“Ganga” for India is not just a river - it is held sacred, worshipped and a dip in this holy water is considered to cleanse sins and lead to Moksha. This strange fact triggered my research - Why is Ganga considered a Holy river? What is it in Ganga that drives millions from far away, to take a dip and feel rejuvenated? To find my answers, I used various methodologies to separate the facts and myths. Literature review gave me an insight into the subject and interviews of various people from different backgrounds helped me to understand it better. Focused group discussions, film reviews and observations played a pivotal role in my research and helped me to reach a point where, my queries were answered and I could channel my thoughts and thus put forth my opinion.
