Why Is Gene Mutation Bad
Gene mutations are cool things and can determine what genes offspring can have. Gene mutation is the permanent change of a DNA that forms a gene. I think that gene mutation is helpful because it shows that everyone is different in a way and genes can have many different combinations an can be altered in different ways. Scientists like me can figure out what gene mutation can happen based on certain traits and dna from parents to offspring. Some might say that gene mutation can be bad because a lot of change can be bad and gene mutation could be bad because the gene could become something that it is not supposed to be which could lead to health problems. It can also be bad if the genes lead to other physical problems. (Ex: Down Syndrome,

DNA is a self-replicating material that is in almost all living organisms as the main part of chromosomes. Ribonucleic acid or RNA is a nucleic acid that is in all living cells. Its main role is to act as a messenger carrying instructions from DNA for controlling the synthesis of proteins. A mutation is a part of your genetic code that is changed. So your genetic code is made up of sections called codons and each codon is made up of three nucleotides. A genetic code is like a sentence. The mad cat ate the fat rat and the big bat. So this sentence would be your genetic code it all makes sense and isn't messed up anywhere. But let's say the mutation in frame error occurs which means that a section of the sentence is deleted but still makes sense. The mad cat ate the big bat. Without of frame errors it's not the codons or ‘words’ that get deleted it's the nucleotides or letters. The mad cat ate the tra tan dth ebi gba t. So now the sentence is intelligible and doesn't make any sense since the mutation took away fa from fat so the codons all mix and squish together to fill that gap. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is caused by a defective gene that produces dystrophin. it sometimes occurs in people without a family history of Duchenne. Meiosis is a process where a single cell divides twice to make four cells that only have half the original amount of genetic information. These cells are our sex cells; sperm in males, eggs in females.…

How Genes works Genes control the characteristics of living organisms. Genetic modification allows scientists to change genes in a more specific or controlled way. Genes can be switched on or off or their sequences can be altered. By using genetic modification it is possible to introduce new characteristics more quickly. Because all organisms use the same chemical building blocks, copies of genes can be moved between totally unrelated species, making it possible to introduce characteristics that would not be possible through conventional breeding.…

For example, some people have a medical condition that can cause extreme amounts of pain. That is due to a mutation of a gene called PRDM12 (Doc. 2). If you change the gene in that situation I personally believe that it would be ok. That is because it would help someone go through life easier. Another reason is healing someone of a genetic disease like cystic fibrosis (Doc. 3).…

When scientists begin to alter and change a person’s gene, the genes the person is born with and scientists take too much risk to change a person’s gene. Once something wrong happens anything can happen to a human maybe there will be a disease or illness and this can cause really bad effect on people, there will not be many cures or treatments for the human, they will die or get a heart attack if genes are overlaid. I believe that genetic engineering is only general; everyone knows that it comes from organisms. But it can still harm anyone because it has not been studied for a long amounts of time, its just what scientists predict, who knows maybe they can be wrong. I believe that scientists are wrong and they shouldn’t do anything, before they have fully…

Genetic mutations are often associated with negative effects. However, mutations in the genetic code can be a positive thing. An article on the Tech Museum of Innovation website explains “Over time, genetic mutations create genetic diversity, which keeps populations healthy. Many mutations have no effect at all.” Without genetic mutations would humans might not be as generally healthy. Should the public be allowed to genetically modify their offspring despite the unknown and known…

The argument between whether genetic engineering is wrong or right rages on every day, and will continue to be an issue until everybody can come to an agreement on what can and can’t be done. Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, writes about how she feels and questions the progression of modern science and how far we can go until it is just morally and ethically wrong. Through the mind of a young scientist, Mary pictures the possibility of what could happen if we venture too far into the unknown and how could it harm everyone. Knowing the line between continuing and finding things that can help society and knowing when to stop is essential to stop something from happening just like in the novel Frankenstein. Not only that, but many people argue over the fact that modifying the human body is wrong and go against the will of many different…

Genes are basically codes or instructions that inhibit or create in organisms cells. In recent years, scientists have learned how to manipulate parts of DNA by creating enzymes to remove or add certain genes. DNA is vastly complicated and organizations such as the Human Genome Project, which is trying to map all the genes in the human body, have helped people suffering from genetic diseases. Embryos that are produced for IVF treatment but not used can now legally be used for research into genetic diseases. In theory, a person could decide the exact appearance and nature of a child by manipulating genes in an embryo. Throughout history groups of people have been targeted as inferior or superior because they are born in a certain disposition perhaps supposedly seen as favorable in the eyes of God- genetic modification can change these aspects and would be no doubt advocated for by homicidal racist Adolph Hitler.…
