Genetically Modified organisms or Gmo’s are unacceptable. People have been modifying genetics since the beginning of agriculture more than 10,000 years ago. People have been utilizing selective breeding in order to produce superior crops and animal. However, not only their are creating superior crops and animals, their harming plants and animals during the process. We have been told GM crops will feed the world, but that’s clearly not the point.
The type of GMOs that have caused people to fear they are not safe is produced by genetic engineering and selective breeding. This method is obviously done in a laboratory by splicing together genetic material. We have been told this GMOs reduces the need to plow
for weeds, saving energy and reducing pollution. Except, people have been splicing animal DNA into a plant. In order to understand the information about a GMO! In comparison, People have been utilizing selective breeding in order to produce superior crops and animals.
GM has not increased the yield potential of any commercialized crops. We have been told that GM crops will help feed the world. However, studies show that most widely grown GM crops, GM soybeans, has suffered reduced yields. In addition, GM crops are used extensively to feed animals not the hungry people of the world. Furthermore, more of the GM corn is being used to make biofuel, rather than food. GM food for animals does need to be labeled, even the countries that demand for Gmo’s to be labeled. In conclusion to Gmos they are unsafe for people, plants, and animals. As an illustration to Gmo’s we now know, not only their unhealthy for humans, but harmful to plants and animals. For example, animals have been through alot of pain by the process of selective breeding, their DNA has been spliced into other DNA, plant has suffered reduced yields.
