Why Is Hamlet Crazy

The Tragedy Hamlet has had a centuries old controversial disagreement of whether the character Hamlet in the play is mad or is just pretending to be mad for a dramatic effect to justify his actions throughout the play. Some might think that Hamlet’s past has made him confused and stressed causing him to claim to be mad to shield the true state of emotion that he is in, however given his actions throughout the play he has demonstrated immoral and irrational decisions that have questioned his values and caused him to deviate from the rational person he was to the mad individual he has become. The state of madness he has presented is not a random action that sprouted from an empty abyss, but it is completely justified as a simple cause and effect situation. Within that line of his soliloquy he presents a contradiction of an evil deed with an effective outcome. This gives Hamlet a plan that he believes will make the king admit his guilt for the action he has committed. Hamlet’s plan consist of a reenactment of the murder of his father that will be presented as a play for the king and queen. Hamlet asks Horatio to watch the king’s reaction to the scene of the murder of the king and states that if he objects against it then he is guilty but if he does not then he is innocent. This intelligent plan proves of the intelligence of Hamlet and the powers of manipulation that he possesses which delay the madness that will eventually consume
