Why Is I Like Katniss Brave

I like Katniss, the protagonist of this book, because she is very resourceful. Another reason is because she is courageous and brave. I further like her because she is very rebellious and disregards unjust and unfair rules made by the Capitol. Katniss is quite resourceful. One example of her cleverly using her resources is when she hunts animals with her bow and trades them in the black market of District 12. “We easily trade the six of the fish we caught for good bread, and the other two for salt.” Another reason that I like the protagonist is because she is very selfless and courageous. She was being very courageous and selfless when she volunteered as tribute after her sister’s name got called. “‘I volunteer’ I gasped ‘I volunteer as
tribute!’” The last reason that I like the main character is because she is rebellious and has a disregard for unjust and unfair rules made by the capitol. One act of rebelliousness is when she snuck out into the woods to hunt. “Even though trespassing in the woods is illegal and poaching carries the severest of penalties, most people would risk it if they had weapons.” Katniss is quite resourceful. She is because she can hunt and gather. That shows her ability to use her resources well because to overcome her family's problem of living in poverty and starvation. She hunts so she can feed her family, and gathers herbs that she can sell. Katniss is also exceptionally selfless and courageous. She is because throughout the story she is making brave sacrifices to help others. Like when she volunteered as tribute for the Hunger Games so she could save her sister. Katniss is immensely rebellious. She disregards unjust rules and even eventually overthrows the Capitol in another book. Even though hunting is illegal, and trespassing into the woods results in a death penalty, she still does it anyway to help her and her family.
