Some trees are really desirable because that wood is very nice. One wind of wood that is highly desirable and is found in Costa Rica is mahogany. This wood is valuable because of its properties that it possesses. This wood after it is cut is either sent to America and other countries so that it could be sold, or be made into something then shipped to a different country. They then the land that once had trees could use for cattle farms and to crops different kinds of crops like coffee. There are some major companies that buy coffee and cattle beef from Costa Rica. A major company that buys coffee from Costa Rica is Starbucks. Starbucks also has a coffee farm in Costa Rica, “newly acquired 240-hectare plot on the slopes of Poas Volcano in Costa Rica” (http://www.takepart.com). People could also use that that land to have their own farms to help feed their family and or to sell it for a profit. The kids of farms that people own are typically tree and cattle. This means that the people vote to who is in power. For some countries this could be either bad or good. It would be bad if the people are not into politics and vote for whomever. It would be good if the people are keeping up with the politics and know who they want to vote for. For Costa Rica this has been a good thing. Before with the old government there was a lot of corruption, now there is not as much. For the people this is good, they have control over who is in the government and who is not in the government. Since Costa Rica went to this kind of government the amount of corruption that is in the other country went extremely down. Some other countries that also have a democratic country are Argentina and Brazil. The United States says that they have a democratic government, but it is more like a Republic because the people don’t have complete control over who get to be in office.
