November 22, 1963 is a day which will always be a dark day in United States history. Those that were alive on this day will always remember where they were when they heard the news that President John F. Kennedy had been shot. Children came home from school to find their parents watching television and crying, people were stunned and shocked. For those that do not know what happened that day, let’s take a trip back in history to that fateful day. President Kennedy had arrived in Dallas, TX at Love Airfield and was to take a motorcade through town on his way to a speech. People lined the streets the entire way to get a glimpse of the President. The motorcade turned east onto Elm Street from Houston Street and three shots …show more content…
One of these issues was the Mafia and its imposing pressure on parts of the country. To accomplish this President Kennedy made his brother, Robert Kennedy, the Attorney General. Robert Kennedy continued a valiant fight to take down the Mafia by any means necessary. Kaiser tracked the administration’s vendetta against organized crime and the numerous Kennedy-era assassination plots (Cook). The Mafia did not like anyone meddling in their business and had to find a way to stop this. Robert Kennedy himself even suspected that the Mafia was involved in his brother’s assassination. When Robert received the news that his brother had been shot, he immediately assumed that the Mafia had a role in it. According to Talbot, “The President’s brother quickly concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assassin, had not acted alone. Later R.F.K. ordered aides to explore a possible Mafia connection to the crime (Talbot).     John Fitzgerald Kennedy was an American politician and World War 2 veteran. He later served as the youngest elected president of the United States from January 1961 to November 1963. The reason for his short term was his assassination in Dallas Texas, on November 22nd, 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald was on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository when he shot and killed the 35th president of the United States during the 1963 motorcade. There were several things that could have help prevented this tragedy from happening. Before the motorcade began, John verbally told his secret service men to “back off.” His agents gave him more space then he should have had in the first place. Kennedy had a love for cars, so riding with the top down was a must for him. If he had not been riding with the top down, he wouldn't have been such an easy target. Lastly, the motorcade route was changed at the last minute. He was supposed to go through Main Street and onto the Stemmons Freeway but at the last minute was changed to turn onto Houston Street, then Elm Street. If Kennedy had allowed his Secret Service man to assist him, did not ride with the top down, and stuck with the original motorcade route, Kennedy's assassination could have been prevented.…

On the other hand, my father had his money on Lyndon Baines Johnson or LBJ. Power and greed could make a good man go bad he always said and Johnson was far from being a good man. Known in Texas for his dirty politics it wasn’t hard to believe LBJ’s hands were not clean. Over the years, their theories changed somewhat and actually combined into one. Oswald was always a patsy, who was not smart enough to have planned and executed the assassination plot. Jack Ruby was a low man in the Mafia that was expendable and LBJ and his connections had President Kennedy assassinated.
