Jim Morrison: The Lizard King James Douglas “Jim” Morrison born on December 8, 1943 was a poet, a songwriter, and an iconic and charismatic singer of the 1960’s. 1960’s, was the era dominated by the artists like “The Beatles”, “The Who”, “Bob Dylan”, “Jimi Hendrix” and “Led Zeppelin”. It was an era where many genius artists made many genres of music mainstream. In the very same era, a rebellious youngster, Jim Morrison made his debut along with his band “The Doors”. The Doors touched bases with many genres like folk rock, roots rock, and psychedelic rock. His father being in the military, he had to move frequently and that had some effects on him as a kid which lace became incorporated in his songwriting. One of the incident that had an everlasting effect on Morrison was the scene of accident where a truck carrying Indian workers had an accident and the mutilated bodies of the workers were scattered all over. Morrison recalled: "...all I saw was funny red paint and people lying around, but I knew something was happening, because I could dig the vibrations of the people around me, 'cause they're my parents and all, and all of a sudden I realized that they didn't know what was happening any more than I did.
