John F. Kennedy is remembered as the 35th president of the United States of America. He was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Kennedy grew up in an extremely wealthy, Roman Catholic, political family. He had several military achievements before he announced his candidacy for presidency on January 2, 1960. Kennedy won the election of 1961 against his opponent, Richard Nixon. He remained president until November 22, 1963 when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. John F. Kennedy should be described as an excellent president because he was an important advocate of civil rights, had desirable social skills and personality, and he created a lot of progress for space technology. This presidential election was an important one because it had the first televised presidential debate. At the debate, Kennedy looked and spoke better than Nixon. With the visuals alone, Kennedy won the debate. Not only were his looks what won Americans over, but he was also very passionate about his country.
