Why Is Jurassic Park Bad
Jurassic Park. When this film came out, people went nuts! Not only did it have groundbreaking CJI effects and won several Oscars, but it had action-packed suspense, a sense of awe and wonder, and just seemed gigantic. So when Jurassic World was released recently, you can bet that I sat down to relive all of the awesome memories from the movie that started it all. And how did it hold up? It was awesome! … But maybe not as awesome as I remember. Look, I’m not saying it’s a bad movie, far from it! If anything, it’s held up extraordinarily well. I’d still give it an A, but in hindsight maybe more of an A-. I’m just saying that while we were so blown away by how huge it was, we might have overlooked some problems that we either didn’t see or chose

In 1952 there were multiple fantastic films that made it a close competition for best picture. I narrowed down my list of movies to The Quiet Man, High Noon, and The Greatest Show on Earth. I narrowed it down to these three because Moulin Rouge and Ivanhoe did not perform up to the standards it needed to have a chance at best picture. By thoroughly evaluating these films it has been determined that The Greatest Show on Earth clearly deserved to win its best picture award becuase of its emotional scenes, creative film techniques, and an impactful ending with a twist.…

I have been enjoying going to the movies for over 20 and have never stopped loving the experience. I even remember the name of my first movie “The Land Before Time.” It was about a baby dinosaur that had lost his mother and had to make a great journey to the Great Valley to find his grandparents. In the end he does find them, after a great adventure with friends. I have always love movies that have a happy ending and also a little adventure. Another story that I read that had a happy ending was an essay called “Going to the Movies” by Susan Allen Toth 1980. In this essay she writes about what type of experiences she has with four different friends when she goes to the movies with them. Also, another essay I have read recently is called “A Century of Cinema” 1995…

In Bouriana Zakharieva’s essay, Frankenstein of the Nineties: The Composite Body, Kenneth Branagh’s 1994 film version of Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein is discussed and examined in relation to its literary counterpart. A more recent film that seems to parallel the novel is Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 film, Jurassic World. The film is about a theme park that has created a genetically modified, hybrid dinosaur called the Indominus Rex. There are many similarities between the film and Shelley’s nightmarish story, one is the motif of science versus nature and the unnatural creation of life by scientists. With the “progress” of technology our culture reflects the fear of creating our own destruction. Jurassic World is a modern Frankenstein formed…

Apocalypto was a very good movie. I enjoyed all of the action, and how intense the movie was. It was a bit bloody and gory, but that just added to show how serious the events were. I also thought it was very interesting to see what kind of things they used to do before we existed. The sacrifices the tribes made were a bit disturbing; to watch them rip out a (fake) heart, but it was interesting to see how they cherished the human body and what it did for them.…

The Godfather is one of the few films in which I personally did not find any significant weakness even after many viewings. From the direction, to the acting, to the storyline, to the score, The Godfather has the word classic written all over, and it really is not much of a surprise that it is now considered by many one of the top five movies of all time. Perhaps when it comes to cinematic techniques The Godfather has not been as revolutionary as Citizen Kane, but its influence on motion pictures is comparable. Rarely a movie has defined or re-defined a genre as much as this one did for "gangster movies", but its…
