‘Nurse Leadership Rounds’ is a systemic process in which nurse leaders make daily visits to each patient on the unit. Nurse leaders may consist of department manager, assistant managers, supervisors, and charge nurses. ‘Nurse Leadership Rounds’ allows for nurse leaders to establish rapport with patients, verify consistency of care, obtain real time feedback, and immediate follow-ups with staff to address any complaints or opportunities for improvement. I am visiting you today because I am interested in finding out about your hospital stay. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?) Next would involve managing up your staff (I see your nurse is Sarah and your CNA is Laura, they are both excellent and will take great care of you today). Additional questions would include (Do you feel our staff is attending to your call lights or needs in a timely manner? Is your pain being managed appropriately? Are there any concerns you would like to discuss with me? What is important to you during your stay? Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable, I have the time?)
