Why Is Macromolecules Important
For the most part, life is cellular. Although there are several other requirements, that an organism needs to be considered alive. These requirements are macromolecules, it needs to have metabolism, and be able to reproduce. If something has all of these things then it can be considered alive. The first requirement is that it has to have cells. Beings also need macromolecules because they need energy. The four macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acid. Macromolecules are used for energy. A great example of this is humans an their intake of macromolecules. For the average human, 55-65% of their diet is made up of carbohydrates. While 10-15% is protein. The result of this in the weight is where it gets interesting.

A chromosome is necessary so that there is a “map” of the cells function and structure, cytoplasm is necessary as it is where most of the cell’s activity occurs, ribosomes are essential as they are the site of protein synthesis, which powers the activities of the cells, and the cell membrane is needed to give the cell structure and protection. Most cells have other structures based upon their function, and these extra structures are necessary in order for that cell to perform it’s function.…

All the four macromolecules=lipids, proteins, carbohydrates and nucleic acids= are essential for the functioning of an organism 's body (Campbell, biology). They work hand in hand to help us survive. For example, Lipids are an immediate energy source. ATP, for example, is used by the body when in energy deficit. Proteins are needed to form muscles and bones. Carbohydrates are the main energy source for the body. Without this energy, we would not be able to…

If an organism can perform certain functions such as movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excretion, and nutrition, it is classified as a living organism. Life began from the basic building block of all living things, called cells. All organisms derived from single celled organisms. Cells are the basic building blocks of life and are found in all living things. For example, a group of cells would form a tissue, a group of tissues would form an organ, a group of organs would form an organ system an a group of organ systems would form an organism.…
