Why Is Marching Band Important

Out of all the extra-curricular activities I have listed, marching band is the most significant one. In marching band, I met a lot of people that became very close friends with me. My clarinet group was like a small family. We practice and compete together. I was one of the favorite ones in my clarinet group, because I kept everyone happy when the group are going through hard times. For example, if I recall it correctly, during my freshman year, we competed in a competition, and got first place in the prelims, but when we got to finals, we lost our first place position. My group was sad, but I kept them happy. Marching band has made a huge impact in my life by teaching my how to challenge myself more, and how to have a more organized schedule
during times when I am super busy. During marching band seasons, I always will have rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Along with those rehearsals, I still have to practice my music and do pass offs. Then there’s school. In school, I will always have projects that is due on the same day as other projects, or more than one tests (sometimes up to four) on the same day. With all these projects and practices, I have to have an organized schedule every time. Marching band has allowed me to learn how to make and keep up with an organized more schedule. Furthermore, in band, there were chair placements, and I will always compete with my peers for first chair. With this competition, I taught myself how to challenge myself more.
