Beer influenced the transition from hunting and gathering to agricultural based societies because it gave people a keen interest in grain storage. Beer was discovered as gruel, a mixture of water and grain, that was heated. Standage noted that people could store a pound of grain a year, which caused the transition away from the savage – minded lifestyle even more appealing (13). Beer is a drink used to relax and celebrate, and seeing that the world functions through the ability to communicate, beer was extremely valuable to the people of the time period. In the book, it was said that beer “was truly the defining drink of those first great civilizations,” and these various new abilities brought into play through beer makes this understandable (30). All of these positive and attractive new possibilities are ways that beer influenced the switch from the traditional hunt – and – gather mentality to a more society – oriented lifestyle with agriculture.…

Gilles André de La Roque thought that those born into noble families have a certain skill they possess which makes them better warriors. (Document 9) They have to acquire it from their ancestors. With that said, non-nobles would never possess those skills and that makes them unworthy. His bias is expected because he is a nobleman. Unlike the other open-minded sword noblemen, he sticks up for the people like him. Being born into a certain family, a noble one makes it special. It wouldn’t be special if anyone could become a warrior. Baron Francois Philippe Coubert carries the same sentiment. He stated “the rank of officer is no longer reserved for them alone.” (Document 11) The ancestors of the nobles worked hard for their positions, so it is only fair for than honor to be passed down. His point of also expected, as one of the noble swordsman similar to Roque. They feel threatened by the non-nobles taking over what is “rightfully theirs”. Philippe-Antione Merlin explains the impact of the non-nobles. He feels that they are out of place and act like they are superior. The nobles feel that they would never be on the same level. All of these men feel that the title is most important. Not just anyone can have…

What is privilege? This seems to be the topic of discussion in America since forever; but it is now being questioned more now centuries later and its plastering a smear on America, additional to the election of 2016. Trump and people like Trump who has great wealth and power, has and keep us assured that even in the new millennium we are making almost little to no progress of change and appreciations when it comes to the play of feelings of the oppressed. As a black man I do not feel those in power are for people like me, or for anyone that do not look like them. All they have done is let it be known that racism, genocide and white privilege will never die down. Now a days, it seems that the people of power are still accepting of the crooked…

When you are younger you never are really able to see how privileged you possibly are. It takes an older, matured, and certainly a different perspective to truly grasp whether you were privileged, or even oppressed. When I think back to my past, I realized that I was not as privileged as the rich or wealthy, but to other children around me, I was the privileged one. Even though I was the privileged one out of my friends, we were still oppressed when it came to our school system. It was actually somewhat difficult to come to some of these conclusions about my past, but they are also good and make me feel appreciative about where I have been and where I am going in my life.…

This study was undertaken to investigate behavioral adaptations of a lizard, Lacertilia, to its environment. Twelve peeps, representing the lizards, were placed in a habitat with two microhabitats of different temperatures. Six peeps were placed in one microhabitat, and six in the other. The internal temperature of these “lizards” was measured over a period of 20 minutes to see if their body temperatures matched that of their environment and to make inferences about the behavioral adaptations the organism might acquire to maintain its body temperature. One microhabitat was on a tree and under the branches; the other was at the base of the tree. We hypothesized that the microhabitat in the branches of the tree would be cooler, and at the base of the tree would be warmer. The average body temperature was higher in the warmer microhabitat, and lower in the cooler microhabitat, which supports our hypothesis. Under the tree branches, the peeps were exposed to increased convection and decreased radiation. At the base of the tree, the peeps were exposed to increased radiation and conduction.…
