I will answer this by looking at my secondary research Wales’s education is “going downhill” because they are not improving their results and it is getting worse each year. It says that Wales “have received 2 wakes up calls from the Programme of international student assessment”. This tells me that Welsh education needs to improve big time. Also Wales are doing worse than other countries in Maths English and science. In Wales they use the traditional method of direct teaching because the teachers find it easier to get their point across. The education system in Wales is run by the government but where in other countries it is run by trained teachers. It would probably be easier for the education system be run by trained teachers because they know what to improve in schools. But in Wales the government hand out money to schools and they choose what they want to improve. The standards of Welsh education are gradually dropping and there is concern about it. The welsh government claimed that Students in Wales were leaving without the qualifications that they need. So that Welsh Students were lacking qualifications to get them into further education like universities. They have had inspection in schools across Wales and they think that the teachers aren’t getting the best out of their students. This tells me that the government needs to improve the education …show more content…
I have found out that Finland are at the top in the educational rankings. They have the best education in the world. There are multiple reasons why finland are the best in the educational rankings. The first one is the Welfare society. Finland schools aim is to “support every student to get the best out of them” as said by the BBC website. Finland put a high amount of taxes into their education to get the best of it. Another reason for their educational rankings is that they have highly qualified teachers. Finland teachers have high quality education. All teachers in all schools acrosS Finland have to have a masters. As said on the BBC “The Traditional directed style learning is not so typical in Finland”. So that means that Finland have their own style of teaching. Local power helps the Finand education also, they give the teachers freedom and responsbility. The teachers in Finland do not need to “follow a script”. Just like Wales, Finland also have core subjects and they are looking to improve the curricuum by 2015 as states on the

In one the New York Times Bestseller book, The Smartest Kids in the World, after a comprehensive analysis of the world’s top education system, Amanda Ripley clearly describes the differences between the Finland’s “Utopia” model, a system built on trust in kids, highly trained and autonomous teacher, and effective school management, and South Korea’s “pressure Cooker” model, a system that demands hard works from the kids in an ultra-competitive environment which usually worned out the students. She then explain how both country score very high in the PISA, although they have different approaches. After carefully reviewing both countries’ approaches, I found the Utopia model of Finland is very intriguing and Malaysian education system is also moving slowly toward the Utopia model through the implementation of Pentaksiran Berasaskan Sekolah (PBS)…

It could be said that the education reforms under the coalition government have been both desirable and necessary. To be desirable they would allow they system to be more efficient and enviable while to be necessary the old system would need to be proven to be ineffective and broken, calling for the need for a new system. Michael Gove, former coalition education secretary, made many drastic changes to the education systems including ending modular exams, the reform of the GCSE grading system and preventing the manipulation of league tables. This essay will ultimately argue that yes the reforms are in fact desirable but are not entirely necessary.…

In her report,” Finland’s School Success,” she notes many reasons why Finland is having success in the way they are operating their system of education. The United States has two forms of schools, private and public. In Finland, all of their schools are public and the same. Unlike the United States, in Finland there are no private schools, and there are no tuition fees, “None is allowed to charge tuition fees. There are no private universities, either. This means that practically every person in Finland attends public school, whether for pre-K or a Ph.D”. (978) In other words, since everyone in Finland is getting the same level of education, no one is superior to the other person. Everyone gets taught the same way. Here in the U.S. there are different status in schools, which might be why only some schools are getting high test scores. Having different prestige’s in schools can be a problem because some schools may only be teaching certain things and other may be teaching more…

In different continents the value of education is placed differently. Americans sets high standards for their nation, but do not set their educational value to where they are placed highly in international standards. Actually according to Richard Garner’s article, “Are Finnish schools the best in the world? - Schools, Education-The Independent” Finland has been ranked as the world’s top education system and interestingly enough, “[Finland has] no national testing, inspections or school league tables. The government looks at an 8 to 10 per cent sample of pupils’ work to check on performance” (Garner, 2011). With stricter standards for Finnish teachers, the U.S. should consider an education system similar to Finland; it is obvious they have superior education system in which the students thrive without being forced to take standardized tests. • Standardized tests are normally distributed at the end of the school year, which means test results are not received until after the school year is completed.…

During my time undertaking this education degree have found myself constantly reflecting and looking back on my own primary/high school experiences and comparing them to that of my professional placements. I compare the environment, the schools resources, the overall culture of the school, the teachers, the students and of course the student’s attitudes towards their education. I am aware that it is unfair to make judgments on schools in regards to these comparisons as different schools may have factors which affect their students levels of educational achievement.. According to myschool.com (2015) Levels of socio-economic advantage usually have an impact on this.…
