Why Is Percy Jackson An Epic Hero
Ever heard of Percy Jackson? You know, Greek mythology mixed with our modern culture? Children of the gods; the demigods? No? Well, you sure are missing out on a lot. But it's fine. I'll try to fill you in as much as I can about the series. Percy Jackson is the main character of the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" book series written by Rick Riordan. I will be discussing why I chose Percy as my epic hero. My reasons? He has saved the world not once, but twice. He has gone on many quests/ journeys. He was even offered immortality by the king of all gods; Zeus himself!

Every reader who has read the series can easily point out that Percy is brave. His name sake Perseus, who was the only demigod with a happy ending, gave Percy's

You could say he has seen the world. From his home city New York to Denver. From Long Island to Arizona. From California to Rome and Greece. But of course, he never went on any quests alone. When he was twelve, he received the quest to retrieve Zeus' lightning bolt from the traitor. He accomplished this quest along side with Annabeth and his best friend and satyr, Grover. On his second quest, he retrieved the Golden Fleece from the Cyclops Polyphemus, along with Annabeth and Grover as well. He saved the goddess Artemis from the Titan Atlas, together with Zoe Nightshade, huntress of Artemis, Bianca di Angelo, also a huntress of Artemis, Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, and Grover. He navigated and surpassed Daedolus' Labyrinth with Annabeth, Grover and his brother Tyson. He went to Roman territory and made peace with them, becoming the camp's praetor. Even after all of this, he always says he could have never done it without his friends.

Truly, Percy Jackson is a hero, admired by many. You could argue that because he is the series' main character, he takes all the credit. And his weakness is his "Achilles heel", his weak spot, which is located on his lower left back. Only Annabeth knows about his weak spot. And as being a son of Poseidon, his fatal flaw is loyalty. But when you weight all the evidence, you can conlude that Percy Jackson is a great

Meeting a monster is one way how Percy is a hero. Percy is in the museum with Mrs.Dodds and she starts saying strange things to Percy. Suddenly, she shifts into a monster. “She wasn’t human. She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs, and she was about to slice me to ribbons.” (Riordan 12) This supports Percy meeting a monster because the quote says Mrs.Dodds was not human. Then, the quote describes Mrs.Dodds with things monsters have like bat wings and yellow…

Odysseus, man of exceptional wit, bravery, and intelligence, epic hero The Odyssey written by Homer, is nothing short of extraordinary. He fearlessly leads his remaining men home to Ithaca, doing everything in his power to get them back alive and well. I think Odysseus fits the title of a hero very well. Odysseus fits the description of a hero because he’s done a few things that are heroic. The first heroic thing he has done is go fight in a war with the trojans. Odysseus had come up with a plan for his men during the war. That plan was to build a big wooden horse as a gift for the trojans, the trojans accepted it and brought it inside their village. The trojans didn't know Odysseus and his men were inside the big wooden horse, Odysseus and his men eventually came out and attacked the trojans and won the war. “Harried for years on end, after he plundered the stronghold on the proud height of Troy.”(The Odyssey line 3). After Odysseus and his men left Troy they sailed near Ismarus, which is…
