Though he is strong in his belief and can back up his reasoning thoroughly, he often makes hasty generalizations, which is a logical fallacy. One cannot claim that because a few atrocities that all religion is evil. Religion itself was not created to inflict evil onto the world, it its mission is in most cases of peace. Many people find hope and happiness through religion’s message, and this makes it important to society. Thus, though Hitchens’ arguments are persuasive, but all the beneficial aspects about religion can undermine…
Faith is confidence or trust in a person, thing, deity, or in the doctrines or teachings of a religion or view. The word faith is often used as a synonym for hope, trust or belief. In religion, faith often involves accepting claims about the character of a deity, nature, or the universe. While some have argued that faith is opposed to reason, proponents of faith argue that the proper domain of faith concerns questions which cannot be settled by evidence. A broader definition for faith is when person believe that something may happen regardless of circumstances around them, that faith something that gives assurance of what we do not see. Fundamentally, in both religious and non-religious contexts, faith is “trust” in something or someone.…
Faith is the concept of having complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Faith is a very powerful concept of the mind. It can influence a person to act in ways never thought possible. One’s beliefs may be so important to them that they may even be the center of that person’s life. Take Elie Wiesel, for example. He was a very religious person during his lifetime, let alone his youth. He would talk about his desire as a young boy to go and study Kabbalah whenever the opportunity presented itself. He loved the religion, and his faithfulness for it was one of the reasons why he was strong enough to make it out of the Holocaust alive.…
Life Setbacks allow humans to better themselves. Sometimes events are so horrible, you can't even imagine moving on. Having faith during the darkest moments of your life can really hold you together. Our society can increase faith by giving people something to have faith in and hope for. If our society can can have such a strong faith in something as strong as the Puritans did, it would unite our nation as one. We would benefit from this because it would unify us together and create a common interest among people. It would help give people direction in their life and help them make better decisions. Faith would also give people hope in their life and motivate them to do better. I think faith is important in any society or individual person to give them the will to live life to its fullest and get the best from it. Personally, I would benefit from faith because it will better motivate me and give me something to work for. I also am unsure of my path in this world but faith could help me find my place in the world and discover myself. Faith could also help if I am having a hard time in life or with something it can give me hope and reassurance of how great life can be. I think faith is an important in any society and can change people’s perspective on…
The word faith refers to a religion itself or to religion in general with the confident belief or trust in truths of trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. To have faith is to have and show complete trust of confidence with firm beliefs, even without logical proof. When people have a religious belief of spiritual apprehension of divine truth apart from proof; they have faith. Faith can also be a duty or commitment to fulfill a trusted promise with things believed or to be believed. Reason is to concern oneself with a supposed ability to cure medical illnesses by faith rather than a medical treatment within a hospital by a doctor. Showing faith of loyal trustworthy manner is what most people around the world believe in religious and non-religious traditions.…
Religion gives people motivation when they are feeling lost; it gives people hope during tough times and gives them strength when they most need it. A rising issue has called for the attention of many: effects on brain development caused by religion. According to a study done by Amy Owen and her colleagues at Duke University, “individuals in the religious minority, or those who struggle with their beliefs, experience higher levels of stress.” This can cause stress hormones that are known to depress the volume of the hippocampus over time. The hippocampus is the central structure of the limbic system that is involved with emotion and memory formation (Newberg, 20ll). How is this affecting our society? Religious radicalism has become a new trend; an increase of terrorist attacks has our people in utter fear. We…
With a church on just about every corner it is clear that faith is crucial in our society. Faith keeps our moral compasses pointing in the right direction and gives us something to believe in when all hope has vanished. It keeps us linked to one another in a monumental way, providing us a more socially responsible attitude. We as humans have faith that whatever “higher power” or “God” we believe in is watching out for us. There is a “plan” in everything we endure; nothing is…

1. Because of man’s ignorance and curiosity, arguments for the existence of God have been made over the years. Basically, these arguments are divided into two large groups i.e. logical and metaphysical. Actually, these arguments seek to prove that the existence of a being or having faith with at least one attribute that only God could have is logically necessary.…
I'm not involved in my faith as much as I should be. I do believe in God and mostly everything in the Bible, even though there is a lot of stuff in there that I don't understand. I believe that faith means that you have to trust in things that…
My faith is everything to me, it’s the most important aspect of my life, without faith I would not be able to handle the vicissitudes of life. When some of my close friends are faced with challenges they always ask me to pray for them and I pray right on the spot because I know how important prayer is (Strengths Quest…
Faith, for me, is a way of life. It is believing that no matter what happens God is there to help me through each day. Faith is believing that life is good – always; and that God loves me – no matter what.…
I come from Faith, a devoted Roman Catholic family. Faith is embedded in my roots, my mom is Catholic and so is my dad, I have two uncle’s that are priest and one aunt that is a nun. So, as a cradle Catholic, Faith comes naturally, it’s all I know. When life is pulling me down, I rely on Faith to get better. From my parent’s journey to America, to my mother’s childbearing, and to my coming of age, Faith has been a part of my life, even before my upbringing.…
I’m sure that answer would vary from person to person. But for me it was through the saving grace of God that I was able to have faith in God. It wasn’t until I was able to believe that I could be (or was worthy of being) loved that I could begin to understand faith in God. However, once I allowed God to enter my heart that all of my previous conceptions about faith would be changed forever. I associate this time era in my life to the scripture we discussed last week (1 Corinthians 13:11) “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” Meaning for me that my life before God’s grace I was foolish like a child whereas afterwards (after God’s grace) I was able to begin growing as an adult and learning adult (Godly)…
