Why Is Scout Important In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout has a lot of different traits. Scout is the main character and the narrator in the book. She was very adventurous, impulsive, and intelligent. Although she had many more traits, these were three of the most important.
Scout showed her sense of adventure when she went with Jem and Dill to try and find Boo Radley. “With that, I had no option but to join them.(Lee pg 58)” She liked to join Jem and Dill on their quests and she tried her best to fit in to be one of the guys.
Scout was very impulsive when she resorted to using her fists when someone said something mean to her. “This time, I split my knuckle to the bone on his front teeth.(Lee pg 96)” Another way that she is impulsive is that she likes to

In occasions throughout this story, people may often see how Scout was feisty, outspoken, and curious. She was a very smart and intelligent girl that could read before everyone else, but she was not very smart with handling anger. People may have noticed as they were reading, that I wrote a lot about Scout being feisty. That would be because Scout always gets into fights. She can get out of hands sometimes. There are three characters that could best be called the protagonists in To Kill a Mockingbird. One of those three characters is Scout, the reason that Scout is a protagonist in To Kill a Mockingbird, is because the story is told from her point of view as she is the narrator. This is best shown in the following excerpts from chapter one “When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem…” and “… my father, Atticus Finch…” by having her refer to Jem as “… my brother…” and Atticus as “… my father…” in To Kill a Mockingbird. She thus, illustrates that she is the narrator and the one whose point of view To Kill a Mockingbird is told from, and by being both of those things she is proven as the…

Scout is a very unusual little girl, both in her own qualities and in her social position. She is unusually intelligent in many ways that is far more advanced than the other children who she associates herself with for example she learns to read before she is anywhere close to beginning school, and she is unusually confident for her age as you can see from the story she never backs down when it is time for her to fight boys without fear or remorse for their feelings, which is a normal quality for a young man of the area but most certainly not of a young lady, she is also unusually thoughtful she consistently worries about the essential goodness and evil of mankind and its effects on the common man no matter what race or color, and she always tries to act from a highly educated standpoint and with the best intentions for all who are involved. In terms of her social identity, she is unusual for being a tomboy in the prim and proper Southern world where the girls are all expected to have absolutely nothing to do with the life of the immature and annoying young men of the community of Maycomb.…

Scout likes to resolve occurrences with her violent nature.Thinking to herself, Scout says “My fist were clenched and ready to fly”(Lee 74). To Kill A Mockingbird was and still is one the first novels I read as a teenager, that led me to wonder about society and the judgement's we place on individuals. That it is easy to assume and believe the rumors, rather than being the template in pursuit of factuality. Scout was that person. She was a very small child and when you don't know or understand something due to your age, you have to believe what others do and say is in fact, acceptance. She had no choice but to accept what she was told. As the story goes on, Scout listens and learns, much more than she could have imagined.…

Scout's interactions with others also contribute to her development: In the beginning, she meets Dill, meeting him gives Scout her sense of adventure and wrongful doings, and Jem contributes to this too. When she talks with Miss Maudie throughout the book, Scout begins to realize things about people that she never knew. Towards the end she meets with Arthur Radley, meeting him taught Scout the full meaning of “climbing in his skin and walking around in it.” (Lee 30) Scouts interactions with other characters shows how she is just a girl that is trying to learn what is right ans what is wrong.…
