The Civil War was caused because the South wanted to keep slavery and the North wanted to abolish slavery. This shows discrimination because all slaves were African Americans. After the Civil War, the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth amendments gave previous slaves new rights as natives, yet states immediately passed laws to keep African Americans from picking up a similar access to business openings, transportation and different aspects of society that whites delighted in. They were state and nearby laws authorizing racial segregation in the Southern United States. Ordered after the Reconstruction time frame, these laws proceeded in drive until 1965. They commanded by right racial segregation in every public facility in states of the previous Confederate States of America, beginning in 1890 with a "separate but equal" status for African Americans. Jim Crow laws segregated people of color from whites in housing, jobs, schools, public transportation, public spaces, military service, prisons and more. Laws like this lost African Americans their voting rights in the Southern states. this is another example of discrimination because African American didn't have many equal rights because of their skin
