One thing about God is that He loves numbers. The Book of Mormon only has 1 translation from an unknown original that was taken back to Heaven; while the Bible has over 24,000 copies of the New Testament alone and many translations from those copies. A person can trust that the copies of the New Testament are correct because, a scribe in …show more content…
For example; even if a space between the words was not correct then the scribe would have to start all over. There are also 5686 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament while there are only 643 manuscripts for Homer, 8 for Herodotus, and 7 for Plato. Other than having more copies and manuscripts, all 333 prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament are fulfilled in the New Testament by Jesus. For example Zechariah 11:12-13 prophesizes: “12 I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.” Then in Matthew 26:14-15 and Mathew 27:5-7 this prophecy comes true when Judas is paid 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus. After he betrays Jesus, Judas realizes what he has done and throws the money at the temple, and then the Priests had to figure out what to do with the money. The kings that are talked about in the Bible really did exist during Biblical times. This can be proven through archeology. King Sennacherib of Assyria is talked about in the Bible in 2 Kings 18:13-19:37. In these two chapters, Sennacherib threatens King Hezekiah of Judah. These chapters are true because of a prism that Sennacherib ordered to be made to document all of his achievements. Recorded on the prism it says that Sennacherib attacked and conquered 46 of the walled cities in Judah; but it only says that he attacked Jerusalem, so the Bible is historically correct. All of the other kings in the Bible can also be proven to have existed. Another artifact that proves that the Bible is historically accurate is the lions of the “Ishtar Gate”. These lions are important because they prove the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The lions have a glaze on them that required very hot furnaces that were used during the time of the three men. These few artifacts are not the only ones that prove that the Bible is trustworthy, there are many
