Was the Japanese treatment of civilians & prisoners of war worse than “the Holocaust”? The Holocaust was the mass murder of the Jews during WWII taken out by Hitler and his Nazi army. Prisoners of war are, well, just that, prisoners of war. Japan took more prisoners of war than any other county and were merciless to the people they captured. I personally think that the Japanese treatment to the POW’s (Prisoners of War) was a lot worse to the treatment of the holocaust Jews. They did a lot worse things than the Nazi’s and treated the people they captured a lot worse than them.
Firstly, in 1944 WWII was on so people were being killed left, right and centre. Hitler may have killed more people but, his killings weren’t prolonged. He either gassed or shot, as a result he killed them more quickly than but not as gruesomely as the Japanese did. The Japanese POW’s were killed in more notorious ways like; being buried alive, beheaded, tortured or used for medical experimentation. The Japanese were far more ruthless than the Nazi’s with their killings. Unit 731 was probably the worst thing ever invented. It was a secret Japanese biological and chemical warfare research facility where inhuman experiments were taken out on POWs. Some experiments include; live patients being infected with disease, organ removal on live patients, live targets to test grenades, flame-throwers and bombs and people being buried alive! …show more content…
The Burma- Thai railroad was built by Australian POWs. The Japanese forced them to build the road. The Japanese used American POWs to make post-war fortunes. About 25,000 American POWs found themselves doing slave labour
