The play "Othello" by William Shakespeare, is about a man called Othello, who is dark skinned, and falls in love with Desdemona. Her father is Barbantio. Rodrigo loves Desdemona too and assigns Iago to try to make Desdemona leave Othello and love him, because Othello trusts Iago and they are friends. Every story or play has a villain, and the villain in this play is Iago. He dislikes both, Othello and Rodrigo. He hates Othello because he heard that he slept with Iago's wife, Emilia and because he choose Cassio over him to be his lieutenant. Iago hates Rodrigo because he thinks he is a fool and follows anything someone says about anyone. …show more content…
Othello listens to Iago about Desdemona cheating on him with Micheal Cassio, who was Othello's lieutenant.
Othello believes Iago and especially when he proves to him that Desdemona is cheating on him, while she is not. At the end, Othello kills Desdemona and himself when he notices Iago made that up to take revenge. Iago is more than a 2 faced character. He is a sneaky person, and has the ability to make people trust him. Iago knew how to plan everything without a mistake, that made him a villain because lives were wasted for his evil
plan.
After Iago started to plan for Desdemona and Cassio together , the audience realizes that Iago is more evil than they thought. He does not care about anyone but himself, even at the end when Othello killed his wife, he didn't feel guilty that he even killed his wife, Emilia for informing Othello the truth. The theme of the story is jealousy, because Othello is jealous from Cassio, Iago is jealous from Cassio and Othello, and Rodrigo from Othello. So, if you are jealous from someone on a person then you don't trust that person enough that you think they don't love you or care about you.
I think that Iago is an interesting character. He is hiding himself behind an innocent face that is only willing for good. I like and dislike his character. I like his character because he is the kind of person who can deal with any problem he faces and can take revenge in a really effective way. I also dislike his character because I don't think that the problem between Iago and Othello involved Desdemona's death, she was innocent but the evilness of Iago could waste lives.
