With the use of material, human, financial and informational resources, Walt Disney has become the successful business that they are today. To be considered an organized business, a company needs to combine all these resources. Combining these four resources made Walt Disney a very profitable company that has grown extensively since the start of their business. The company currently has over 100,000 employees throughout all areas of the business. It takes that many employees for the company to provide the services that are required to thrive in the entertainment industry. There are not many competitors out there that can serve customers and provide quality products like Walt Disney. As Walt Disney continues to grow they are finding more ways to continually expand their business. The company began to branch out into other areas of the entertainment industry in the 1950’s. They started out with one theme park in California and then continued to build other theme parks around the world. Over the years Walt Disney has taken over many businesses in the entertainment industry, as well as develop its own businesses. The company created a scientifically based system called Nike Environmental Design Tool. This tool measures the impact of materials on the environment. The product development department will use the tool to work with the designer to choose materials for their designs that are environmentally friendly. This will provide info to the designer on how their designs are reducing waste and the use of environmental materials. The next step is to work with the factory to figure out how much waste was reduced. After all the required information is entered into the tool, a score is calculated that helps the company determine the standard that is needed to create sustainable products.
