Did you know William Harvey was the first person to correctly describe blood’s circulation in the body. Well that is one of his many famous discoveries about the human body. William Harvey’s most popular finding was when he determined the way blood circulated throughout the body. Scientists before William thought that blood was formed in the liver and absorbed by the body. William’s main finding was all the blood flow must equally hit every artery so there must be blood circulation around the body. There has not been any new findings on the circulation of blood throughout the body since William Harvey’s last findings. Another cool finding William had is a pulse isn’t produced by the arteries pulling blood in, but by the blood being pushed by the heart into arteries, making it bigger. Another one of William's findings was the heart contracts the same time as you can feel the pulse. One of the other cool findings William found was there is absolutely no to and from blood movement in the veins, but a constant blood flow to the heart. Finally one of William’s last major findings in the biological community is that blood sent through the arteries to tissues will not be consumed there. In1604 William joined the College of Physician. Then in 1607 he became head physician at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. When William turned 40 he had won the award for recognition as the best Doctor in London at that time. After William published his monumental book De Motu Cordis which was a substantial contribution to the Cardiac Physiology community it was published in 1628.
