When did your family come to America? My family came to America around November 1999. My parents were the first generation to arrive in America. Maryland was the first state they arrived to in America , which we still are.

They worked in chinese restaurants in an area that isn’t so great. They weren’t really getting much out of it. Now they are doing a lot better and I think it was the right choice to come to America.
Were they college educated? High school educated? They were not college or high school educated in America because they just moved to America and did not know any english at all. In China, my mom was high school educated and became an art teacher because she was very interested in drawing and was very talented at it.
What organizations did any of your family members belong to? They were not in any organizations, not that my parents know of. All of my family members up to my grandparents were farmers in Asia.
Where there any famous events that members of your family took part in? My grandparents lived through the Second Sino-Japanese War , the war between China and Japan. The war started in 1898 and ended 1945, Japan watched the Europeans take land and did the same by taking land and trying to make colonies. They decided to take land from Asia and the Chinese didn’t like that decision and then the war started. Outcome of the war was that the Japanese surrendered.
