Why Nuclear Energy Isn T Bad?
Nuclear energy in itself isn't bad. In fact, nuclear energy is considered one of the most environmentally friendly source of energy because contrary to traditional sources like coal, nuclear energy produces less carbon emissions when producing electricity. Although Latvia doesn't possess any nuclear power plant, Latvia imports nuclear energy to supply the demand of its citizens' electrical consumption.

The dangerous thing about nuclear energy is when it is turned to a weapon. Latvia, being forced into the Soviet Union, knows first hand the devestating effects of nuclear weapons. Ever since regaining its independence from Russia, Latvia joined the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and is a member of

Nuclear powers biggest threat is from the public’s perception of it. As seen in Germany as well as throughout Europe, if the public deems something too unsafe and does not want to live near it, the governments will have no choice but to shut down the plants and look for different sources of energy. Compared to biofuels and solar power, nuclear power is already extremely established and generates a large share of the worlds’ power, and faces most of its issues in the political realm instead of the practical…

First off all, what is the nuclear? Many countries use nuclear energy to generate electricity. “Unclear is the energy stored in the center or the nucleus of an atom. After we bombard the nucleus into two parts, two different elements are formed along with the emission of high energy. The process generally followed is called fission. Fission is the chain reaction which needs uranium-235.”(“Fission and fusion”)The nuclear energy is considered as the worthiest alternative resource of energy after fossil fuels, but it also has a lot of potential problems.”(“Nuclear Energy”)…

With nuclear power came what was thought to be a more clean alternative to burning coal and other fossil fuels; Nuclear power does not produce nearly as much of the greenhouse gases as coal produces. People and society have given nuclear power a bad name, considering the amount of accidents that have happened. Although when you look at statistics it’s not as many as you would believe, or expect. When nuclear power is put head to head with coal power, nuclear power is the more efficient, and the safest way of power production. There are several reasons for this like the amount of fuel burned, pollution levels, and the effect it has on the environment.…

Nuclear energy leads to an unsafe, unstable and unclean environment. The producing of nuclear energy can lead to both good and bad things, but two thing that come with producing nuclear energy are the high dangers and expenses. Many risks and high dangers of producing nuclear energy are any where from health issues to major meltdowns of nuclear plants. Expenses of nuclear energy plants are very expensive to build and to sustain them through the years. Renewable energy is a safer option for the environment and the economy, with no chances of major melt downs and expenses.…

There are many reasons why nuclear energy is bad, and good. But my stance on it is that nuclear energy is bad. Here are 3 reasons why. First, there might be an accident accessing nuclear power plants, causing great danger to everyone and the area. Second, if resources dwindle, the cost of making plants might increase in prices. Third,…

Nuclear power uses unstable elements like uranium. Uranium is constantly going through a process called nuclear decay, which means the atom is splitting apart over a period of time, measured in half-lives. This is why it is the element of choice for nuclear power plants. Uranium is special because it can go through what is called induced fission. Induced fission is when a free neutron is fired at an atom (like uranium). The atom will absorb the neutron, and immediately becomes unstable and splits apart. When the uranium atom splits, it will split into two separate atoms and expels two or three neutrons depending on how the atom splits. A single uranium atom, when going through induced fission, will release about 200 MeV (million electron volts). The atoms contained in one pound of uranium release as much energy as burning 1,000,000 gallons of gas. There are pros and cons of nuclear power, but is nuclear energy worth the risks?…

The used of nuclear energy in the world today has many negative effects and attributes. First of all, the use of nuclear energy affects crops and food. It limits the crops farmers can give to companies because the crops can be turned into a form of energy called ethanol, which can be produced with corn and sometimes sugarcane (The Seven Myths of Energy Independence). This means that the more ethanol produced, the less food can be sold to citizens, which will increase the prices of them. Also, farmers will start growing more crops for this reason therefore causing environmental problems such as oceanic dead zones and pesticide-infected groundwater (ibid). It is also environmentally unfriendly in the sense that in order to make some gasses, coal must be burnt, therefore releasing dangerous CO? gasses into the air (ibid). Not only is it environmentally unsafe, but it can also pose a threat to enemy countries, as what happened in the Cold War and Nuclear Arms Race (Nuclear Weapon). In the Cold War, Soviets placed nuclear weapons in Cuba, making it easier for them to attack when/if needed (ibid). The thought of the Soviet Union being able to wipe out an entire region of the United States at any given time is certainly a negative effect of nuclear power.…

Furthermore, nuclear power is too expensive. For instance “Many supporters and critics say nuclear power biggest impediment is economic.”(8,8) Even people who agree with nuclear power agree that the cost is too high the amount of workers and materials that will be needed and how long the process is too much money for the economy. Like this quote states “But in reality is wasting yet more time and money pursuing the nuclear nightmare would be, too expensive, too risky.…

Nuclear energy can be very dangerous but can also be cleaner than other energy sources by creating less pollution than fossil fuels. It is an advanced form of energy that has only been available for the past 50 years. It is very similar to fossil fuel in that it uses steam turbines to produce electricity. It uses uranium to produce heat in a process called nuclear fission where neutrons are smashed into the nucleus of atoms splitting them and releasing heat energy.…

Nuclear Power is reliable yet controversial source of energy in the U.S. Many people have different viewpoints on Nuclear energy. Although nuclear energy can cause many problems such as nuclear accidents, it saves money, produces less pollution, and it can be made in any environment. The benefits of nuclear energy outweigh the risks. Without nuclear energy we would be relying on the weather for energy.…

When it comes to Nuclear Power there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages. One of the best advantages it there are no fossil fuels being burned. This thus results in less air pollution. There are also economic advantages as well, because fossil fuels can be a great alternative energy source. Let’s not forget that there are many disadvantages as well. Making Nuclear power is very complex and extremely dangerous which causes for expensive security precautions. In 1986 in the Ukraine a nuclear reactor melted down resulting in numerous deaths and long term radiation effects. It is considered as one of the world’s worst nuclear catastrophes ever. It shed light to how dangerous nuclear power can be when not properly monitored and controlled. To make nuclear power, atoms must first…
